***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

For those that are still having problems with long loading times and slow menu's disconnect your ps3 from the internet and the game works fine.

I you want to play online though you're screwed. :P

the game is continuesly sending and receiving data via http or socket connection on the same Thread. i can actually visualize how they coded it and a recent graduate seems to have coded that part of the game!!!

EA's fifa 11 does the exact same thing as GT5 i.e does background sending and receiving data continuesly through the menu's and when playing a game btu because its done on a background thread, it never interferes with the main thread(the ui, the actual game etc..)

In your game, on your system ? Or on everyone's system everywhere that you know of, everywhere all the time ? Try to be more specific.

No, you don't. But I can tell you that I haven't seen any 'tearing' in game, in London with 12 cars on the track and you can take that whichever way you like.

O'Reilly ? Maybe I am just a simpleton who's enjoying the game too much :D Perhaps if I got my post count up I may be taken seriously ?

Sorry for your troubles, GT5 is all good here ;)

Fine... My system and lots of others are all reporting screen tearing... ok

and its not my PS3, its not my TV its the game... It tears, and if you can't see it then good for you..

But me, like lots of others in this very thread and from google searches tell you that SCREEN TEARING is in this game..

I tried to be polite with you and mention that others are seeing screen tearing, but you're not interested just because you 'claim' to be not getting screen tearing..

and i've tried the game at 720p and 1080p on a Panasonic TV and i've also tried the game on a 720 samsung (both plasma mind) and both tv's display screen tearing.

Even others after me said the game tears... sheesh some people.. i've just completed an arcade race at monaco and in the race it tore all over the place...

And it has nothing to do with your post count, you don't see it. I never called you a simpleton, you made that assumption on words posted on a fourm.. Fine, but the game has, for the final time got screen tearing issues.

I've just noticed a little bug, in car view the speed shows on your incar dash and on the bottom of the screen,

They were both completely different, it was like the incar dash is showing kph and the onscreen bit is showing mph which is what the game pre-selected.

I've only played about 30 minutes of gameplay so I'll hold my judgement, but when using the interior view is that vibrating/shaking normal? Seems strange.

Yeh... Ive noticed that too. Some cars so mph other show kph

you understand that everyones ps3's are the same right? theres no such thing as different systems - these arent pcs here.
and no before you say it a tv does not count.....the screen tearing is caused by lack of vsync which the devs either forgot to add or more then likely couldnt do due to overpowering the ps3.

there are a lot of people reporting screen tearing, its all over the net. i have witnessed it myself, not neccessarily in london (yet) but in toscany defiantly.
some people wouldnt understand screentearing simply bc there not pc gamers or they just dont notice it...thats all good, but it doesnt mean that its not there because you dont even have to look hard to find it cropping up.

Thank you... I think that was a better way of wording this. Just saw red, but your post explained it better. PC gamers do tend to see screen tearing more then any others..

The Devs maybe know about this issue, the PS3 perhaps can't handle the 1080p mode and keep 60fps. TBH I rather they just dropped this whole 1080p 60fps and just went with v sync 30 fps and no tearing..

but then this is a whole other issue as again some will argue that 30fps for a racing game isn't enough.

anyone else thinks the graphics look smudgy like someone put vaseline on the lens. ???

just had a race in the zonda r in arcade mode and i was a bit meh to be honest

Indeed it's an absolute nightmare. The only way I managed to get gold on that event was to turn all the assists on and even then it was a struggle.

I did it without any assists, pretty bloody banzai moves to get passed them all.

Struggling doing some of the other Special Stuff tho, really need to fix my wheel!

It's the server. Having problems here as well. Happened yesterday as well.

Just unplug your network cable and reload. Will go straight in. Annoying though isn't it...

Ah, I thought it could be that, it was 30 seconds every time, although actually since about 11 it's been fine!

If it starts taking ages again tomorrow i'll unplug it.

Edit: First thoughts, FANTASTIC!

Playing in 720p mode means I must be missing all this tearing stuff, but either that or i'm too immersed in the game!

I spent 9 hours playing it today, im going to stay in uni and work tomorrow so I actually get some work done!!

Or he could spend the last 5 years writing his own perfect version of GT5 ...

Or he could wipe his bum on the disc and post it to Japan

I couldn't care less

lol well tell you what. Provide me with your postal address, i'll take the blu ray out of my 'standard same as every other persons PS3' and I'll wipe my backside with the disc and I'll post it to you, and you can plonk it into your PS3 and see if it tears for you.. Is that OK?

I mean, wouldn't want to put you out and spoil your 'tear free' enjoyment of GT5 now would I..??

Learn to spell and I may take you seriously.

In fact, if you could compose a decent post I might even invite you round to my yard, set up my
5D MkII to record the game I'm playing (and enjoying) and point my 7D at you to record you jumping
up and down like a leprechaun whilst shouting 'LOOK it's tearing it's tearing' :D:D

/goes back to not knowing anything about 1080p, Hi def video, LCD screens, or anything else the internets says :(

that old chesnut...wow.
