Hi guys it me again. So I settled for a xonar dx which has made a huge difference with speakers and headset.. last time I.did ask about headset and didn't really get a answer Sept for goldring which needs a amp and a Mic putting It's price up.

Now I said ill see how my creative headset goes with my sound card but its getting old very old in fact and has done its justice. So its to to change.

I would perferance a headset and I know there are gem headsets out there

Two catch my eye.

This also

Well I'm all ears if worst comes to worst it will have to be headphones but I perfer not.

Thank you

I'd pick the Razer's of the 2. They have some very good comments from people with experience of decent headphones. Most of the time, gaming headsets are called crap, by many users of decent headphones. Some were quite surprised the Carcharias sound as good as they do, for a headset. :)

I have the Razer Carcharias and they are much better than my Medusas (They died after many years of abuse!). Clear and crisp, lightweight and really comforable on the ears.

I am dissapointed by Razer products (poor qaulity keys on keyboards etc) and have personally used both headsets myself, after which I bought the Siberia v2 because I felt they were what I wanted.

I think they not only look better, but were much more comfortable because of their design and the material the earcup is made out of.

The driver size is also larger, being 50mm and not 40mm so that's a pro.

They're also cheaper.

And you get the pro of having a retractable mic that won't be able to get in your way no matter what position you find yor face in. Having no physical microphone is better than having some stick on the side of your headset if you're not speaking through it.

If you care about their publicity, they were given away as the chosen headset for gift bags in the 2010 grammys and they're 'sponsered' by esports groups like evil geniuses.

Well they both seem to have good reviews.. just after feed back on the two and user experiences

I had a razer tarantula keyboard and I hated it. Used to lock up every now and again. Awful keyboard. I now use a Saitek Eclipse II and love it.
The headset is very very good though!

My razer keyboard locks up every now and again too, would be very annoying if it happend, say, during a Starcraft 2 match. It could **** me over completely. Not sure if I'm glad to see more than a few other people having problems with razer keyboards.

Thanks guys for the concern of quality on razor products in general. I have a razor copperhead myself and its never failed once so it seems razor seems better in some areas..than others. However I'm mostly interested in the headsets lol

Cheers for the info marksman.. I m guessing here they went for the well known brand, there but that's good to know regarding the razors

Also thanks for your expirances with the razor headset phillydee and cythx

I would like to know how the steelseries compared to the razor headset mostly in terms of sound

My Razer Mamba hasn't seen as much wear, it's deffinatly got some better build qaulity than my Razer Lycosa.

I'm thinking they've got better build qaulity on their mice in general since it was the product line they were famous for in the first place?

I hadn't used the Razer long but if I had to guess which one sounded better, it would be the Steelseries. But that's just based on the larger driver size.

Razer Carcharias = 40mm driver size

Steelseries = 50mm driver size

The driver size, is, I believe, the size of the speaker in the headphone so to speak.

I didn't go through it much coz I'm busy but the first reply I read said he found a big difference in driver size and that 50mm sound much better than his 40mm headphones.

So just based on driver size I'd say steelseries>razer

Blimey, basing a decision of which sounds better on driver size? Oh dear.

Thanks for being constructive, but I you didn't make it that clear. Are you saying driver size has absolutely no effect on the quality or how natural cans sound?

Since when did I, or anyone here, base their decision on driver size? I certainly didn't and I don't think OP has even made a choice.

I clearly said 'I hadn't used the Razer long but if I had to guess' based on the resources I had available to me; people's opinions. From my little looking around it looked like people valued bigger drivers over smaller ones on a headset.

Your reply is interesting. You say you didn't base your decision that the Steelseries sounded better due to larger drivers, yet your previous post says otherwise.

So if you are not basing it on driver size, what are you basing it on?

I'm just saying, larger driver size doesn't necessarily mean better. My Goldring headphones have 40mm drivers, Siberia V2 has 50mm drivers. Which is going to sound better?

The goldrings..

There was a reason why corsair used 50mm drivers yes same with steelseries.. I didn't hear them say its for sound quality.. they only move more sound. However it depends on the quality of the drivers need alone tuning.

I have not chosen yet althrough I was looking at the mk2 headset to mine which is a creative headset

Don't look bad for £50

However it depends on the quality of the drivers need alone tuning.

Exactly. :)

Good quality 40mm drivers are always going to be better than lesser quality 50mm drivers.

I'm not saying larger drivers don't make a difference, only that you can't base a decision on size alone. The thread linked by Cythx, it seemed more believe bigger equals better. Only one person mentions size isn't the only thing. One guy comes to the conclusion the Sony V900's are better than the V600's because they have 50mm drivers, not 40mm. If people are just going to presume that bigger equals better when choosing a headset, or headphones, then as I said before....oh dear.

Hi there guys. I m not really closer on choosing, just getting more options instead. Sort of opposite to what I wanted. It seems they are both very good headsets. The SS v2 seems more of a good at everything headset unlike the razor that it's very good with games not so with music.... Help:s

I will add this webcam mic s are quite good well they was on my last webcam. I don't really want to mess around the a amp or need active nosise isolation use the cups with that.

I have just bought a set of SS v2 (white) a cracking price, I took free delivery so wont be here till Tue/Wed.

I will let you know what they are like when I have them.

Well I've had a weekend's experience with the Razer Carcharias and I'm impressed. They're running out of my Audigy 2 Value, which isn't the greatest soundcard in the world when it comes to surround features, but is very good for music. The cans and mic have been great in Left 4 Dead. Music also sounds very good. Plenty of bass and lots of detail.

The build quality is also excellent and they're very comfortable. ~£70 seems quite a lot to spend on a headset, but I'm happy with them.
