Hi there,

Since I've formatted my drive and moved from socket 775 to 1366, I seem to be having trouble with my 580.

It seems to be slower than it was, only seems to score 14k gpu score in vantage, and windows experience index is only rating it at 6.8, which is absolutely barmy for a gtx580.

I've tried with both the 262.99 drivers, and the 263.09 drivers. It does the same with both.

Pic for reference.

Please help :(

I really don't understand what's up with it. I'm close to RMA'ing it

Have you actually played any games? Windows performance index isn't exactly reliable and 3D Mark vantage is just a benchmark. Try playing some actual games to see how it performs.

Just as an example of how unreliable windows performance index is, with a Q6700 at 3.2Ghz, a 5870 and 8GB of RAM at 800Mhz I get:

7.3 Processor
7.3 RAM
7.8 Graphics
7.8 Gaming Graphics

I have, which is what started me off at it feeling slower.

It ran better with a Q6600 than an i7 @ 4ghz

Black ops and Mafia2 are more 'sluggish' if that makes sense.

In that case, I think the new board/CPU/RAM is the suspect if it ran better on a Q6600, I can't see it being the card.

I think I've tracked the issue down.

Card seems to be throttling down to PCI-Express X1 speed.

Any idea how I can make it run as normal?

Here's mine.

Also have a look at your bandwith as mine shows 192.4 GB/s but this could be to do with your memory speeds as yours are at 1000 MHz & 1002 MHz & mine are both at 1002 MHz,very strange.

Thanks for the pointers - however I decided just to try taking it out and putting it in again, after reading about someone else having the same problem and just having a loose contact.

Upon reinserting it, gpu-z is showing it running at x16 again, so it should be all back to normal!

Panic over, for now :)

Windows Experience Index showing it at a respectable 7.9 now

its crazy, black ops is.

At home on my beast... Stutter stutter, have to disable SLi.
At work on my Q6700 and GTS250, its perfect and such a higher FPS.
