Giga UD5 / Sata 3 Query

Sorry, for the noob question, but I have a Gigagbyte UD5 mobo and looking at getting a c300 SDD which supports SATA3

Do I need a Sata3 controller / card or does the UD5 support Sata3 on the board ?

It supports it on the board, however only if you plug into a certain slot. Think they are a different colour

depends if its the EX58-UD5 or the EX58A-UD5 as the original one did not support sata 3 onboard.

Judging by your build log, you have the same mobo as me. It doesn't support sata 6 (which the c300 does). You dont need a sata 6 controller, it runs fine on the one your have. To reach full speeds offers however, an add in controller will be needed.

It's the 58 as opposed to the 58A so looks like I'll need a controller for full speed goodness
