Well, the pricing for the MP4-12C is out - and it will be cheaper than the 458 Italia. From PistonHeads:

'When it goes on sale next year, the McLaren will cost £168,500, a price that includes new-rate VAT (20 per cent), although you'll have to find extra for tax and first-registration costs.

The 458 Italia costs £169,545, but that's currently inclusive of 17.5 per cent VAT, so the price is almost certain to rise further come January.'

So you can all go ahead and order now. Who wants to try haggling with Big Ron for a discount?

Was chatting to a bloke who went to see the car earlier this year (with possible intent to buy!). Seemed quite impressed, and liked it more than the 458. Not sure I do though. Looks like McLaren have deliberately undercut it, what was the expected price, does anyone know?

I was under the impression it was going to be sub 150K but then I think quite a few people were surprised Ferrari came out and priced the 458 as much as they did. Considering the Mclaren is probably going to be quicker than the 458 (More power, more torque, less weight) but with less gadgets and luxuries I can see why they priced it as they did. If people are buying the Ferrari at that price they'll certainly buy this.

I think the McLaren will sell like hotcakes round this area no doubt it will take quite a few sales away from the Aston dealerships, look forward to seeing some on the road.

Just to bump this, they've now emptied the RR showroom in Knutsford and started putting up boarding around it, guess it wont be long before its full of lovely Mclarens....

Ferrari's have always been extremely overpriced for what they are, the most expensive part of the cars is the badge. Id take the McLaren given the choice.

oh totally - this was in July :) Mclaren are just down the road and this was about the 4th time i'd seen it out and about but the only time i'd managed to catch it up.

on Megafactories on National Geographic it said that Lamborghini do a 60km test drive on public streets of every car they make.

They dont have an official test track, so just drive around the roads of Sant'Agata

Must be awesome to see brand new lamborghinis out and about all the time.
