Ello all - long time no speak, but I'm back with a vengeance...ish!
Basically I've just bought a new mini to use as a media centre, but also as my main home computer too. As I'm out of the engineering game now, I no longer need a super duper all singing, all dancing machine.
The mac mini is absolutely perfect for me, its small, well designed and I've even managed to upgrade the ram and whack in a huge hard disk. As a result, it will happily store my iTunes library and photos.
However, I've just moved the mini from my desk to a shelf above my monitor, its just bog standard rack shelving with a bit o' timber slung across it. The annoying thing is, when the mini is burning a cd, or god forbid a DVD, the vibrations are horrific! It sounds more like an aircraft engine idling.
I know it could be 'cos i'm using the big red paperclip store's rubbish range of media, but even with more expensive discs it still sounds loud.
I keep hearing about acoustic matting and was wondering if y'all had any suggestions? The mini itself is in perfect working order, its just the disc burning that makes it sound bad!
When reading a disc its ok.
Any ideas?
Ta las....
