3D mark 11 officially launches November 30th

Futuremark's online service is also pretty useful.

Considering how what, a decade, over a decade after they started the ORB is still woefully inaccurate, with gpu clocks, memory clocks, etc, etc completely wrong most of the time its almost entirely worthless. Theres SO many FREE benchmarks it is indeed entirely banana's to pay for one.

Knowing your 3dmark score doesn't tell you anything any other benchmark can't tell you, run any game, performance is diabolical, theres a problem, its as expected performance, everythings fine.

The ONE thing 3dmark USED to literally a decade ago was make fantastic looking stuff that was well ahead of games out at any given time, 3dmark these days looks truly epically pathetic.

I remember things like Nature way back when, with a quality of tree's and grass (and woeful performance to go with it) that games weren't close to. Its looked pretty and it was people making pretty damn interesting looking graphical scenes that were pushing boundaries to a degree and giving people an idea what could be done and could even indicate earlier than games would, where future graphics features were going in terms of performance.

IE very few games use tesselation properly, if 3dmark had included tesselation a year, two years ago, appropriate levels rather than "**** you AMD" levels of tesselation for the sake of it, then AMD/Nvidia could maybe use that as a benchmark for where to tweak performance.

Way back when, 3dmark was innovative and was actually good to watch.

I honestly run it SO rarely now that I can't remember any of the names of any levels, the jetski thing, looks so painfully low res, rubbish and just pathetic, its long since given up the mantel of pushing the boundaries and is stuck firmly in the camp of , utterly pointless, boring to watch, not at all pretty, completely worthless waste of time.

I mean the original reasoning for the naming, IE 3dmark 03 coming out in 02, was the idea that this performance and this level of graphical quality is what you have to look forward to next year....... its so behind the times in terms of graphical quality for me that its lost its single reason for being.

And

Hello

Today we announced that the launch of 3DMark 11 is going to be
postponed by a few days.

Our aim is that 3DMark 11 should provide accurate, reliable and
consistent results from the start. With that goal in mind we are taking
some extra time now to fix a couple of difficult bugs rather than patch
the benchmark immediately after launch.

As you pre-ordered 3DMark 11 we understand that this delay is
frustrating. To make up for the inconvenience we would like to offer
you a complimentary copy of Shattered Horizon, the multiplayer zero
mavity FPS game from Futuremark Games Studio.

The code below will let you download the complete game from Steam. For
more information please see the game’s store page on Steam:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/18110/

Your code:
*****-*****-*****-*****-*****

We will be in touch again soon to confirm the new launch date. Thank
you for your patience and understanding.

Warm Regards,
Oliver Baltuch

agree with you drunkenmaster, 3Dmark for me was 80% looking at things that couldn't be done yet (ala nature, now look at crysis, Bad company 2 jungle scenes!).

Now we get vantage which is embarassing.

It should look pimpin, it should collect data more accurately and not use physx.

Release date confirmed

Hello

It took us a little longer than planned, but 3DMark 11 has now gone gold. Earlier today we announced that 3DMark 11 will be released at 14:00 GMT on Tuesday December 7, 2010.

From that time onwards you will be able to download 3DMark 11 from the Futuremark website and start submitting results to the new online service. You will need the upgrade code from your pre-order confirmation email to activate the Advanced Edition so make sure you have it to hand on Tuesday.

Till then, happy benchmarking!

Warm Regards,

Oliver Baltuch

President

Futuremark Inc.
