Advent Vega: Launches Nov 1st, who's tempted?

Could you make some videos of it loading popular pages like BBC? It would be much appreciated.

Typing this on the Vega :D

The hardware is good but let down by the screen, it's a standard netbook screen so suffers from poor viewing angles don't expect to place it flat on a desk and see/read.
It would have been better if they mounted the screen upside down as it's brighter that way.

The installed firmware is OK but doesn't have any Google apps, this is down to Google's rules.
Fortunately firmware updates don't have to be signed so Paul (modaco) has released new firmware which includes the gapps and if you willing to support the site (£10) you can download a rom that include the latest nvidia drivers, this makes a big difference and the Vega is very responsive now.

The built in Google keyboard doesn't suit tablets so under Paul's recommendation I bought 'Smart keyboard pro'

The vega only has a back button so some older games that expect a menu button which the Vega doesn't have will be unusable, angry birds and spaghetti marshmallows runs great.

So if your looking for a reasonably priced android tablet and can put up with the rubbish display then I can recommend the vega as long as you install custom firmware.

Neocore fps = 45.4

EDIT: holding the back button will bring up the menu

Ordered mine on saturday but still hasnt turned up due to the weather. I know its at the DHL depot but they couldnt find it earlier.

Argh, waiting is so irritating!

That looks really nice, though After I've got most of my DJ equipment I'd prefer a tablet for portability so hopefully We'll see the likes of Trakktor Pro/LE on devices like this.

Advent Vega Product Recall?

Was in the shop that sells theses yesterday with the girlfriend looking at iPads and laptops and thought I'd enquire about the Advent Vega. Two of the staff said there has been a product recall on them but could not explain why. Just wondering if anyone who has one of these has heard of a product recall. There's a thread on MoDaCo about this recall but some posters had said that they think staff in the shop are confusing the Toshiba Folio that was recalled with the Advent Vega.

These look good for the price, I'm going to hold out though because I think there's too much crap out there, especially in the Android Tablet sector.

Would rather wait until Honeycomb is out and see what real competition will be like for Android Tablets before making a decision.

Hopefully Google will improve their applications to be as feature rich as HTC Sense's, if they don't then I'll wait to see if HTC release a tablet with Sense like applications.

Paul @ Modaco has just released his usb host switcher app which allows the Vega to use usb devices such as memory sticks, mice, keyboards, webcams etc! So far everything I've tried works great. A reboot is required to switch between host and slave mode but as a boot only takes 30 seconds it isnt too bad. Plus r7 is coming soon and Paul says it will be a full rom rather than an add-on.

i could do with a better keyboard app, other than that, i am really impressed with the Vega. games run really well and just started using dolphin hd which has improved browsing loads.
@tonyyeb, did you use script before switcher? just wondering if it is better.
