Just got a few questions essentially...

  • I sometimes get a small patch or red skin above my top lip. Initially i thought this was because i was shaving against the grain, and since i stopped it hasn't been a problem - until now. I shaved since the 8th so i'm just wondering if i'm doing something wrong...
  • Being the complete idiot that i am, i have a sort of 'V' style hairline - and i was tired once and i got really annoyed by it so i cut it off. Greatly regret this, considering i tried, and failed, to grow it back, tried shaving it but it's always visible and unsightly, and i sometimes take some other hair with it. Anyway - what's the best way to deal with it? Let it grow then cut the rest of my hair to that length? Or just shave the whole thing (head) and start again, even if i do look like a pleb for a bit?
  • After getting that sorted i'm considering getting dreadlocks. Essentially i just wanted to know if there was anything important that i need to know, suggestions regarding methods etc.?

Thanks for any help, even if i doubt this is really a hairdresser's scene but it's worth a try

Someone told me that you have to use some kind of wax and then hold out a clump of hair and scrape a comb down towards the root. No idea if that's true.

This?

Yeah, don't get dreadies! Filthy things and out of 20-30 I know who have had them over the years, all but 5 have had some of them rot and fall off :(

Also depends what colour you are, dreads on white folk just looks ****!

Shave the whole thing off. Because you never know you might suit it, & besides, it's winter, get a trendy hat/cap to cover it if not happy. ps. don't ever ask me to shave all my hair off as I'd tell you to **** *** but that's just me & my insecurities.

As for the red patch, sure it's not eczema or dermatitis or something?

No, but this is the only place i've ever got it, wouldn't have thought so... i had a weird thought about it though, it starts off being a little itchy so i drag my bottom lip over it, i was wondering if it might be something to do with the enzymes in saliva

Dreadlocks? Really? Are there any student stereotypes you're unfraid to indulge in?

Shave it all off and start again.

e : yeah, that's not how you spell unafraid, is it?

Meh, i considered a mohican but decided against it, too much work for something that gets you far too many weird looks :D

You can do, but it doesn't do good things fotr the hair if you dread it that way. The best way I've seen it is to wash it with a bar of soap instead of shampoo and roll them out when your hair gets to the right state. It'll take months to get started, and as with any dreads the first few months at least are going to be a lot of maintenance, but it'll form the best dreads. Whatever you do, don't just stop washing your hair.

Are you moisturising after shaving? You should be.

Most of the time, yes... don't really use shaving foam though, i will when i start again. Just thought it was a bit weird for it to pop up when i haven't been shaving.
