Hi

I want to order a Kindle for my Mums christmas present and was hoping to have it shipped to my work address, however when I select my work address for dispatch, my credit card is not showing up in my list of payment options.

I tried calling Amazon just now to try to sort it out but got through to a stupid indian call centre who were completely useless and couldn't even understand what I was saying.

so, simple question, if I was to get the kindle shipped to my home address (which is my parents address) what is the packing like, is there any thing obvious on the packaging that makes it easy to tell it's a Kindle in the parcel?

I wouldn't have thought so but just want to check so my mum won't guess what it is.

When you add another address you need to enter your card details again as a security measure.

My kindle arrived in a standard Amazon box. Don't think there was anything to say what the contents were.

I've bought two Kindles and both arrived in the units packaging only, no outer bag or generic box. While it doesn't scream Kindle in big letters (iirc) you can see what it is on closer inspection.

Thing is though I haven't just added this address, I got all my presents sent to work last year without any problems

I'll give re-adding it a try tho, just in case it works.

gift wrap option?

Could do but don't want to spend the extra for no real reason.

Hmmm, thats a pain!

Edit Just treid adding my credit card again once I'd selected my work address for dispatch and it's worked, seems odd though.

Still got it ordered now so all is well.

Security measure. It makes sure somebody hasn't just hacked your Amazon account and getting stuff sent elsewhere. I had this yesterday when i changed an address from home to work and I had already paid for it. It made me enter my card details again.

Everything I've ever ordered from amazon turns up in a suitably sized cardboard box with amazon written all over it.
You couldn't possibly tell what was enclosed.

Off subject,OP i hope your mum has better luck than me with her new kindle.

Ive just had to this morning get another Kindle sent out to me, as this is now the second time the build quality of the kindle has failed within a few months.

On the Plus side, the store in question are excellent with support and replacements for the kindle, they really do look after there kindle customers

Even after having a kindle longer than a month, they still send you a replacement before you have to send the faulty one back to them, superb!

As for the CC details this is simply a security measure,i know its really frustrating for you not being able to get delivery elsewhere,i personally welcome these security measures.

The Kindle will arrive in a small plain brown cardboard box.
