Afternoon
After an hour's useless investigating, does such a thing exist (8-pin to 2x 6-pin adapters for graphics cards)?
Basically - my current power supply is an antec 650 (TP3-650). Its quite old now but has been rock solid for years.
It has 2 x 6 pin pci-e connectors and two 8 pin connectors. My current set up is 5770 in crossfire with each taking 1 6-pin connector.
I'm going to sell these though and have just ordered a 6870 (can't do with crossfire hassles at the moment).
Thing is I'm thinking in the future, better drivers might come out and crossfire be more reliable
, and I may then want to stick a second 6870 in. But to do this with my current power supply I'd need an 8 pin to 2x 6 pin splitter, but they don't seem to exist.
I'm assuming there's a good reason they don't exist, can anyone enlighten me?
P.S. Before my 5770 crossfire set up I had a 4870x2 which took 1 6-pin and 1 8-pin connector, so they must work no???
I also see that 2x 6870's actually have less power requirements at load than my old 4870x2, (which is amazing) so my current PSU should be able to handle 2, is that right?
