Steam - Black Friday Sale

I think Steam know exactly what is going on with the gift packs. No one in their right mind is going to buy 6 copies of splinter cell and then give them away. As long as people are doing this in a non-profit manner steam wont mind. Sure they have mechanisms in place etc

Maybe but it is explicitly against their rules, I wouldn't risk my account. So long as those involved in this know the risks.

Another thread on it here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1612527

Warband is standalone right?

Will I miss much by not getting the first?

Yes, Warband is a standalone product. Think about it as an improved version of the original. You won't be able to play older mods though, some of them were great (all singleplayer) but most are being recoded for the use in Warband.

I just completed the demo of The Ball and I really liked it. You get a level and a final boss, so a decent taste.

A total change of pace for me, very puzzle orientated.

Is there any reason why playing warband in trial mode would be a bad idea until steam fix this CD key issue? For example is it still possible to use everything you have in the trial in a activated version?

Also, what is the deal with the 2 CD keys, the 4x4 key is used to activate the game, and yet the 5x5 key is used for multiplayer according to the taleworlds forums. Whats wrong with a single key, every other dev team manages fine with a single CD key to unlock the game.

Will grab Warband tomorrow for definate. Need a multiplayer alternative to Black Ops!

And I fully recommend Just Cause 2. It is the definitive 80's action hero game- think of The Expendables meets Commando meets Rambo. Beautiful graphics, and so much damn fun!

Can't see it being an issue for most, unless you have bandwidth limitations or something.

Sure, until Ubi's servers go down one day when you want to play the game you paid for. Have fun with that.

It's also the principle - this form of DRM is a step too far for many of us.

I've refrained from buying anything so far. I already own all the games I would've considered buying.

I don't personally think they can put a deal on there I would take advantage of at the moment unless it was Test Drive Unlimited 2 at half price with the ability to play it right away, but that's never going to happen.
