Upgrade from ATI HD4770

Hi,

I want to upgrade my gfx card. I have an ATI HD4770 and Im looking for an upgrade that is noticeably better, as in at least 2x the performance, so I dont have to upgrade again for a while. But Im looking for the cheapest option.

I previously had a look at the 5770 but I dont think its a big enough performance increase to warrant the purchase. There seems to be some cheap nvidia 460s and ATI newer cards are out so Im curious as to what is the best bang for the buck now.

Have a look at the 460's or squeeze for a 470

A 6850 for £140~ would be a very nice upgrade. It should be quite a bit more than 2x the performance of a 4770.

I went from HD4770 to GTX460 back in August and the difference is massive.

6850 has lower power consumption, but as for how cool the card is, it's more down to the cooler of the card; some brand offer better custom cooler than the others.
