Hello

I was looking at getting x2 new HID Bulbs for my Dad's Audi, and as they are not cheap, I was thinking I may get them as a Christmas gift for him (along with some other bits). I'm not sure where his Owners Manual is and I would prefer not to ask, in case he asks why. :p

The car is a 2000 reg, B5 varient, Audi S4 Avant.

From googling around, I think I need D2S fitment bulbs. But I would just like to double check.

Thanks! :)

Hi, yep - definitely D2S types. OEM are 35W. Mate has an "X" reg S3 and he's just had a bulb go on him and ordered a replacement D2S. Pretty sure the S3 and S4 headlamps are exactly the same. There are a couple of S4 owners on here I seem to recall, perhaps one can confirm it.

Super star!

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it. :)

Make sure to get the right colour temperature too.

4300K = OEM, brightest light output.
5000K = the closest to pure white.
6000K = a hint of blue, and also the legal limit for headlights.

Yeah no worries. Was just going to be the Philips 4300k one's. Cheapest I found them is on eBay at ~£30ea. Not bad! Cheapest website I could find wanted ~£45ea.

Some of the Osram and Philips Ultra stuff was nearly £100ea. Crazy prices.

:)

what are the chances of the eBay ones being nasty fakes?

Most likely quite a big chance, but the one's I saw were stamped with the Philips stuff along the edge, seller had 100% feedback, so fingers crossed they are legit. Some were none branded one's so I'm guessing they would be cheap and nasty. :)
