Who has hung their keys up for the winter?

No way in hell I'm going to work by cycling or public transport in this weather, car it stays ! Only disadvantage is having to de-ice the windows indeed... Plus I need to drive 5 days per week for work now anyways why would I drop the car for private trips too ?

You are both saying the same thing, it's people with 2 cars for themselves that generally will garage one (the nicer one) at this time of year.
Families with 2 cars because they are needed isn't the example being used :p

Hanging up your keys for winter? An excellent safety idea!

I'm going to drop a note in one of the suggestion boxes at work!

:p

I know its winter when my passenger door won't shut. I have to push it/pull it for the catch to engage.

Other than that business as normal, just have to give an extra 10-15 mins in the morning if its particularly icy.

Tempted to park on the private road behind my house though, not a lot of us use it and it puts the car out of harms way incase someone slides into it.

I'm trooping on regardless.

Even if the things about two inch off the ground

:p

It's pretty heavy here now and pretty ropey, i'm going to have to take the 15's & toyos off and get some winter tyres for the spare 16's. I'll only stop when it gets stupid, or it gets stuck and I get fed up of getting it unstuck.

As all the suspension, brakes, underside and body are all refurbed/spotless I'm now sorely tempted.

But that won't happen as the weekend car is the weekend car and is there for funs! :D

Obviously I'm not going to stop driving at all, unless the snow is up to the windows, but the MX5 doesn't get as much use through the winter, due to the fact it's crap on cold roads, can't really get the best out of it. Yesterday at the meet it was a bit of a handful, that's for sure. It's a warm(ish) weather car. I know RWD is fun bla bla but if I took that attitude every day then it'd only be a matter of time before I bent or broke something due to lack of ABS, lack of tyres that work well in lower temperatures etc etc :p

I'm good thanks.

Might not drive my car quite so much, other than going swimming and essentials like getting sweets from tesco, will be driving my van every day pretty much though inc callouts at lol o'clock at night/in the morning.

If I were to hang up my keys in the next few weeks it won't be because of the weather, it will be because of all the impatient people that have swarmed onto the roads doing Christmas shopping etc.

I only have the one car anyway so the A3 will carry on plodding away throughout the winter months. Work tend to get the hump if I decide I want a day off from driving although if we get lots of the white stuff they encourage us to work from home. I'm guessing they don't want to pay our excesses as opposed to giving a monkeys about their employees. :p

russian roulette is less dangerous than driving in the cold

true story

(and 4x4 drivers drive as if their really heavily into the ketamin when its snowing)
