buying a nintendo wii from the USA

My sister is going to New York this weekend... given that stuff are generally cheaper in the US. If she brought a nintendo wii from the USA would:
1. the warranty be international and be covered/valid back in the UK
2. I am assuming that wii will work fine here in the UK despite the difference in voltage and the PAL/NTSC difference?

Can anyone shed any light on this 2 questions?

I think like previous generations of nintendo consoles games are sold by region.
 
She could be caught going through customs and have to cough up vat and duty, which would likely make it pointless.

You can bring in other goods worth up to £390 without having to pay tax and/or duty.

But I doubt the Wii offers any savings, best buys are clothing, trainers or price fixed Apple products.
