okay i was advised in using 800 series chipset and southbridge. what's the difference it and 700? if i planned keeping it stock is there nay difference? if i over clocked a tiny bit will 700 ones wont do?

do they have intergrated gfx? i looked at MSI 880GM-E41 880G and it had a vga port using 880 and 710 sb

Performance wise they should eb the same. It comes down to features really. USB3 and SATA3 should be only offered on 800 series boards. On the SB iirc although I could be mistaken and the SATA is controlled by the NB.

Check out wiki; it has an article outlining all the features.

I think its the 870 is the only one without integrated graphics and one PCI-E slot which is why I went for it, a lot cheaper than the others and perfectly fine if you only want to run one GPU

Can't say what the actual chipset differences are between 700 and 800, but when speccing my build I've done some checking (and some asking on here) and I concluded that the only meaningful differences between the two sets of motherboards is that the 800s have USB 3 and SATA 3 support.

I understand that even the best, fastest SSD on the common market right now can boast up to 3.2GB/s transfer rate, and that SATA 2 is good for up to 3GB/s anyway, the SATA 3 (6GB/s) thing therefore doesn't seem too relevant.

Getting a discrete GPU so didn't take time to check for onboard graphics differences between the two, I just plumped for a 700 and saved £30.

:)

Only difference is the USB 3 and SATA 3. I think it's easier to unlock cores on the 700 series though. Overclocking wise they're about the same.
