BTW I hate arrogant people making comments like
"The problem isn't Windows 7! You're the problem.
Each to their own though. "
So retarded it hurts to read.
One reason I couldn't go back to XP is the vast improvement to Cleartype in Win7.
XP non-aliased fonts now look bad to me, and XP's Cleartype looks bad with thin italic text.
Win7 has changed Cleartype in some way, because win7's aliased fonts are fantastic. Miles better than XP, and better than Linux too, which has the same problem with thin italic text so I've found.
What?
Windows 7 cleartype is exactly the same. The only way it might be different is because it is 'tuned' differently by default, which you can change in XP using the free MS cleartype tuner tool.
The ClearType technology has continued to evolve and the latest improvements have been made in Windows 7, as discussed in this earlier E7 post.
Windows 7 is far quicker, more stable than XP and has a host of interface and usability improvements.
Upgrade, XP is garbage now, it was outdated when Vista hit and it's even more so now.
XP is still quicker than W7 on most machines, exception being x64
dirtydog: I can take screenshots of XP's Cleartype and 7's Cleartype rendering the same text, if you like. There is a huge difference.
Go on then![]()
Will take a while. Have to set up a VM, since there is no XP in my house![]()
Same can be said about some PCs that Windows 7 is quicker.![]()
the only ones i have seen which are quicker are those which require 64bit OS (because of the additional ram), if you have anything to proove otherwise (like for like) feel free to post
