HTC Desire HD (Ace)

What class microSD are you guys using?
That might have an effect on the fps, if the phone can't write the data quick enough, then it's clearly going to be a bottleneck.
 
Class has nothing to do with the max speed capable for the card, it's just a guide as to the minimum you can expect it to have for write speeds so a class 2 will guarantee a minimum write speed of 2MB/s whereas 6 is 6 respectively. Most branded cards will far exceed the minimum expected rate based on class spec. My Sandisk Mobile Ultra 8GB Class 2 writes at over 6MB/sec for example and easily keeps up with my LG Class 6 8GB card.

All down to the chipset on the card itself and this is where branded > generic brand.

There is a compromise with everything, in this case it may well be that a larger viewable screen means that you drop a few fps with 720 Video Recording, then i think i would prefer to keep my larger screen :D

I might agree, but for the fact that video recording performance is near-as-dammit the same as the Desire, i.e., shoddy. And yes the Desire was released a while ago so it's not a fair comparison. I agree that there are compromises to be made everywhere. Maybe fantastic video recording would have added another £50 to the retail price? And yes if it was a choice I too would keep the larger screen.

I think I'm just peeved that it's still a bit poo.
 
For those wanting this phone sim free, after waiting for months from mobilefun I placed an order at unlocked-mobiles.com on Friday and had a dispatch email today. So quick turn around.
 
Is anyone having problems with gallery images (and pics you have taken with the camera) taking a stupidly long time to load in the gallery viewer?

This is what I'd call medium use for me. Still on 24%. Don't think the percentages are very guiding though, as both PowerAmp and Angry Birds are about 30-60 minutes each.

Iv re-booted my phone several times.

I dont think anything else could be interfering, which brings me on to a question somebody may be able to answer. The gallery loading slow is a big time bug for me as I use this a lot. Im going to have to find out what's going on.

Is there on this phone a task manager showing currently open apps? like in windows you can see what's open, and have the option to close it.

I know you can drag down that bar at the top, and there is what looks like recently access applications, but there is no indication as to weather they are open, or an option to close it.

Open apps shouldn't be an issue, as android manages resources such that apps are closed when more resources are needed.

I should probably mention that I only have a few files in my gallery at the moment. If you have lots on your SD card, maybe it's something to do with that.

Surprise surprise, I've come home from work after being told on Friday my phone will finally be delivered today. Nothing.

I call and she says sorry there's been delays with the Royal Mail it should be there tomorrow? :S

She said she will call the Royal Mail and call me back in 20 minutes.

If she doesn't call back I swear to god I'm near the point of yelling at customer service for the first time in my life.

While you've had a very rough time with this, there could be some truth to that due to the weather I suppose.
