Steam - Black Friday Sale

I am going to take a punt at £5 on Metro, I know it had mixed reviews but the gameplay mechanics really intreague me, will be nice to see how pretty it is too.

I built this system a year ago with overclocking in mind with the intention of adding a second 5850 and water cooling the cpu when needed, but alas the rig in my sig has worked so damn flawlessly i have not needed too. I think Metro might test that though!

Dirt2 is a bargain at that price, I was not fussed on the multiplayer but enjoyed the single player (except for the slightly slow menu style)

Since I configured my gamepad for Dirt 2 it has been brilliant. The graphics on my 5850 card are stunning, the music is actually very good, it's the annoying american racers or whatever that keep saying "hey Dave, you totally rocked in that last stage"

The attention to detail is second to none for a driving game.

If your a driving game fan in all likelyhood you'll have this, for anyone else with the slightest interest it is a must at this price, especially if you have a gamepad.

Edit: Metro 2033 I have, it runs great on my 5850 and has great potential just never had the time to play it yet.

I've heard issues with KOTOR and W7.

How is the Steam version holding up?

I have the disc version and there is no issue at all. I bought this version as it saves grabbing a disc every time to play it plus I wanted a steam copy in case I lost both of the copies I have of it somehow! Yes I have 2 copies, it's actually 2 copies of the Best of Star Wars pack.

Really? Mine runs really well at 1920 x 1200 and auto configured settings, which are pretty high.

Well since I had issues with GTA 4 in general, it being a mediocre game with dodgy controls for key gameplay elements in my opinion, I bought this(liberty city stories) to see what it looked like on my PC(I completed GTA 4 on my PS3), and to see if it improved on GTA too.

I think it does much so, in just about all areas, just playing Gay Tony at the moment so no idea what the lost and the damned is like.

One thing I just can't do and that is punch consistantly in the cage fights. I hit the attack button but most of the time I end up pushing the darn guy instead of throwing a punch! Anyone got a tip? I'm using a 360 pad...

Metro 2033 - I want it, but I'm pretty certain I don't have the grunt to run it smoothly. Q6600 (at stock) , 4GB RAM and a 4850. What do you reckon? Wait for it to come round again after an upgrade or will I get a reasonable experience with this spec

Actually I think it might run okay, not on full settings though. The 4850 is still a darn good card.

i've got a free copy of Half life 2 here if anyone is interested.
First to add me on steam and say gimme the damn game gets the copy :D

Gratuitous Space Battles kicks ass - going to get some DLC :)

I'm waiting for christmas. With any luck they should have a sale on the existing DLC and with any luck the campaign mode they're currently working on might be ready too. I've got everything but Nomads but the campaign should be sweet.

I bought a few games yesterday, fired iup steam today damn you all to hell found myself buying metro, avp and the indy pack.

i remember trying the dirt 2 demo and it was absolute rubbish.....i found it way too sensitive but that was for the ps3.
could be quite good on the pc but i'm not going to find out....besides i still got grid to play through from last xmas.

Welp, was a damn-good sale for me. I got:

- Batman AA GOTY
- Metro 2033
- Star Wars KOTOR
- Indie Story Pack
- Indie Puzzle Pack
- Indie Air Pack

All for less than that of a new mainstream title. Yay! :D

Roll on xmas...

Very tempted to get Metro 2033 and the Indie Air Pack, but have so many games I haven't even started playing yet. If I get it I have a feeling it's gonna be sat there until who knows how long!
