8gb (3.99gb usable) ?

Just installed another 4gb ram in my pc but for some reason bios is only showing 4gb installed

Windows sees 8gb but says 3.99 usable, cpu-z shows 8gb and sees the 4 2gb sticks so what on earth is going on?

Its a P7P55-M mobo if that helps with the latest 903 bios, running win 7 pro x64

try the nb volts at 1.35v

(the maximus 3 gene in your sig?)

sorry was the p7p55 board not the maximus, ive just downclocked the ram and its seeing all 8gb now, odd that it booted tho :confused:

its the extra stress placed upon the menory controller (which in inside the CPU these days) by filling ALL your Mobo's slots mate.

Usually hampers OC'ing when filling all slots.

Most cases, more memory controller voltage is needed to maintain OC than would be needed if you were only filling 2 out of 4 slots

Cheers, i thought as much just thought it was a bit weird that some things see it, the reason I tried it was I had a 6gb kit but was only using 4gb of it, so I bought the crucial 1333 cheap thinking it "might" work which it hasnt, so ive got the 3 2gb patriot sticks in running at 1600 and cas 8 no problems, now the question is, is there any point in me running 6gb over 4? As it wont be running in dual channel correctly??
