BBC Madness?

Von Faillhausen can't sort the OP :o

Yes he can, all he needs is a laser-guided forum mod which will allow him to alter his clicks by 1 2 or 3 fingers after carefully pointing his keyboard, adjusting his keyboard, then letting rip with his mouse.

As far as the Op goes,
This is of course a game changing weapon as the US idiot calls it, as that really get creeps hiding in the mountains planting IEDs.... dumbasses.

I reckon this thing looks like hot air too at the moment.

Firing a 25mm round that can go pop when it passes over a wall doesn't replace an MFC or FOO and certainly doesn't replace getting the yanks to send in some A10s...

Quite frankly a good old fashioned 51mm mortar would probably still be a better alternative to this.

However, in the 1st few minutes of a contact before air can be called in it should be worth someone in a squad/section carrying one. Fitting the same sight to a SA80/M4 using a Smart 40mm grenade would be a huge advantage though.

Have you ever fired a 40mm grenade from a UGL?

You don't use the sight on the rifle itself rather a small pop up ladder sight giving you graticules at 50m intervals up to 350m (IIRC) is used and the rifle is held tilted upwards (not pointing at the target) - think of it as a cross between a bullet and a mortar round - a sight like the one in the OP isn't going to work in that scenario and the idea of using a lazer in general with it is a bit pointless.

They might steal them now.

The mk I was awful. The A2 version is reportedly excellent thanks to Heckler & Koch.

H&K might have made them nice and reliable, but they've not rectified the fact that the weapon is still pig-heavy, complex as smeg and can't be fired from the left shoulder...

I wonder if UK troops would prefer some other rifle as standard ? G36 etc ?

Even upgraded, the SA80 has been in service for over 20 years now.

Just spotted this on my morning news run. I'm a bit disapointed I wasnt the first to notice this, but hey, searching for something before you start a new thead about it sure works well! :D

PK!

from what i've heard from buddies who've served with other NATO troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, the G36 is far preferred to the L85A2 on account of being just as accurate and reliable while being several orders of magnitude lighter and easier to maintain.

this goes with my (albeit, quite brief experience of the Bundeswehr-issue '36s) opinion quite well.
