Man shot, died of natural causes, but not the best bit. :D

Didn't a British soldier get sent to prison for murder because he fired three shots at a car that drove through a checkpoint in NI instead of the two shots allowed in the RoE.

That's sounds very similair to the SAS situation that happend in Gibralter in the late 80's.
When asked by the coroner why he fired 13? shots he said that's all he had in his magazine.

To be fair he did kill an officer just for pulling him over then starting shooting at the people who went to arrest him, he would get shot in the UK as well if someone did that here, although they would only shoot to wound over here more likely, not 68 times! lol

Im sure even over here when a police officer opens fire its meant to kill.

If someones already shot an officer, wounded another, and decided to fire on swat who presumably have him surrounded(or the equivilent of SWAT here), UK police would not be shooting to wound him, they'd be shooting to kill, and they'd use a LOT of bullets, why?

Because in general, with 10 officers with their guns out, they don't all when under fire draw straws to see who gets the first shot, and if he misses the next guy shoots. Any one of the criminals shots could hit and kill an officer, meaning, when you fire, EVERYONE fires. There could have been 20 cops and all of them only shot 3-4 bullets.

Maybe it was 68 officers all aiming to wound?

:p <--- for the humour impaired

Almost, even though he and the others fired at the car as it was driving TOWARDS them, only he fired 1 round AFTER the vehicle had passed and was no longer a danger, that's why it was against the ROE and why he got done.

1) Police (in England at least) don't shoot to wound, they shoot to kill.

2) The Northern Ireland lad got in trouble, AFAIK, for shooting the occupants of the car through the rear of it, after it had passed - ie. after any danger he may have been in had passed.

3) THEY TOOK URRR JEEERRRBS!
