I cant help it, new car again - 3 series

Why, because of the engine? I guess i agree there, i dont like the car that much in comparison to an a8, but i also dont like diesel engines so it clouds it a bit. :)

Its completely irrational with me and A8's i just dont like them, especially diesels :)

It doesnt feel like a Tdi at all to be fair, its a great engine and at 30mpg combined it doesnt strain the pocket too much for its size/power/comfort

Id have another, but too many other choices to try first!

Dealer offering 4k? Loooooooool, try 2k :p

I bet you a tenner if he goes to the BMW dealer that has done all his work that know him he gets bid more than 2k, how many miles has it done?

Ah fair do's. I wouldnt choose one over an S-Class or a 7-series if they were the same money, but there are some bargains out there. Pop-up tv is cool too :p

It's a pre efficient dynamics one as well so 445 quid tax.

You've been saying this kind of thing a fair bit recently. When the high tax bands came out weren't you of the opinion that it shouldn't really matter because in the greater scheme of things an extra £200 is nothing and certainly not worth spending extra on a car just to save money in tax? What's changed?

I get £2k part-ex offers from BMW dealers for a 155k mile 330d. Fox's 5 series has done way more miles than that and is a petrol. I think even £2k might be asking a bit much. Which is a shame.

I've had the same problem really. All you really hear about MPG wise is stupid comments like 'If i wanted MPG I would buy a diesel' or 'I drive everywhere at 120mph so I get 20mpg'.

I'm mostly interested to know if it can return the same sort of pretty good long distance economy as mine, as I only care about economy when I'm on long trips.

It would be good to try and get an idea of whether the 335i is less economical in a big way than the 330i or whether the 330i is just great at fudging the EU tests :D

My dad gets around 22 to 24 MPG, he lives in London so does quite a lot of town driving.

I get 20 to 22

Olly had (its now sam's) a virtually identical 530i sport, which was getting offers in at a shade over the 2k mark iirc?

They are still worth reasonable money private, to the right buyer.

Just seemed a bit cheap to me, especially if he is buying from his local dealer that know him, i wouldnt **** off a good potential customer with a bottom of the hole bid, especially with continuing money to be made from him with services and warranty work.

Nothing has changed but when the 57 plate one onwards models are more economical and cheaper to tax then it isn't really worth the bother.

If i wanted, say, an M3, thats just how much they cost to tax, end of story. But when most of the production life of the same car is inside the lower tax bracket, it becomes a consideration.

DiamondMark or Housey need to buy Fox's car from him and use it for an epic TG style e39 swansong.

Depending on when he gets rid, I want it.

I'll just threaten to ruin it with chav modifications whenever we have our disagreements. . I think I'll keep a set of 20" replica M6 wheels, pair of dodgy "angel eye" headlamps and a plethora of "M sport" badges in the garage constantly on stand-by :p.
