Tbh, the new maps are crap. Heavy Metal is just a snipe fest, Oasis appears to lag and Harvest Day looks like a map we currently have.

Right, after R26 finally installed and now it's all working. :D

SQDM - New Maps Only - 1 Round per map, then switch to a new one.

If you fancy a game and it's full, drop me a msg via steam and I'll kick for you.

Steam ID = defrag_0112

Heavy Metal is a vehicle map, sit in a tank and you won't get sniped.
Oasis doesn't lag, get a PC you tramp.
All the maps look like some other map from within the game or some other game, so what's your point on Harvest Day? It's a good map.

Long shot, hoping someone else has been in my shoes on this one:

Just bought BFBC2 from the store (because Steam is taking forever to download Mass Effect 2, and I still haven't played a bloody game on my new rig!) and installed from disc.

On first run, I get the expected "You have version X, and need version Y to play: Update?"

I click yes, it checks versions again, and asks the very same question. I click yes again, and it starts an excruciatingly slow download (no speed shown, but the progress bar is at 10% after an hour) - but oddly, there is a second 'Updater' window behind the first - and when I discovered this (after an hour) that one had the progress bar at 100%, and said 'checking installation'. It still says this.

I tried closing the one that was grinding along, hoping to kickstart the almost-complete one - but both closed, and I basically had to repeat the lot from the start. So now in same boat, with two updater windows - one at 'checking installation', and one grinding along at snail's pace.

Sorry for the long-winded post, but I was just wondering if this was normal for the latest patch, or is mine broked?

Poh.

RTM'd and i have a PC otherwise i wouldn't be replying to this thread?

In future, before you begin cussing someone, do your research as i have an AMD 965 with a 5970 and a perfectly decent job as a Media Arts Technician living in a house with all the luxury's of warmth, water and food with a decent income.

Wow, thats pretty negative mate!

Heavy metal was a vehicle map when I played it. And I didnt feel lag on Oasis?

a lot of people on the server i was on for Oasis was complaining about lag, i decided to try another server and that server had the same problem [i was also playing on European servers hosted by Multiplay].

Oasis is a good map, the lag ruined it for me, if i knew Heavy Metal is for vehicles then i wouldn't of bothered trying to trek it and ending up getting my ass sniped :p and the Harvest Map i found pretty similar to one of the Conquest maps where at the end the winning team get's a cutscene where a plane blows the building up.

I don't know if you guys have had better success on Oasis? If so, point me in the right direction :).

I have just seen my Steam account downloading a 2.5gig file for this game which i assume are the new maps including Vietnam.
When i click on the Vietnam tab on the main screen i then have to log in and enter the product key.
Is the product key the same one for the Vietnam option as my main game?? if so it says the key is already in use and won't procede.

Thanks.

Just played Harvest Day, nice & open, reminds me of BF2142 in some ways.

Its good how people don't know every single nook & cranny, got a couple of small streaks just by flanking.

Still yet to play the others.

The maps are lagging. I believe it is because some noobs did not update their punkbuster as requested and their pb is updating from the server, or so I have been told.

Apart from that, I love them! Back to BF2 style. I cannot believe anybody is moaning. Moan about small maps, then moan about big maps when they listem to the community and bring them out. Just no pleasing some people. :p
