Death Star or Mount Doom, it depends on the day.
Old news but I find this story fascinating! For anyone who has not seen it, its a must!

BTW I did have a search for this post and I couldn't find it anywhere.

Watched this on sky ages ago, quite funny how to police weapons aren't up to the job so they had to run round the corner and get some M14's (IIRC) from a local shop.

I remember seeing this on one of the various us police camera shows. Yep, the cops were outgunned and had to accquire weapons from a gunshop. It kinda reminds me of the shootout in the film Heat.

It was rumoured but never confirmed that they were influenced in what they did and the weapons they chose by the film Heat which was released two years before the shootout. It could be complete BS mind but there are definate similarities

Iirc, Andy mcnab was the technical expert/firearms instructor for that particular scene, the way they move and shoot in the sequence has a military type look to it.

Couldnt honestly say, though the film Tears of the sun depicts a contact drill known as a centre peel, (scene were theyre retreating to the long grass near the end of the film), it's a carbon copy of a part of a documentary about the us navy seals, the silent option, saw it on discovery years ago.

ffs suspects obviously watched the A-team a lot 1100 rounds fired and didnt manage to kill anyone

Dont the military and police force show that scene to recruits as an example of how to fall back under fire? sure i read that somewhere.

I seriously doubt it. I know Val Kilmer mentioned something along those lines regarding the USMC in the extras from Heat, but I can't think why the USMC would need to see a Hollywood movie to know how to train recruits.
