To any pair who wants a cheap 2 week holiday in Sharm El Sheikh next week!

Star ratings have NOTHING to do with people getting the trots :D

Star ratings are based on facilities, swimming pool size, room size, number of restaurants, number of rooms, varieties of room and so on.

Yup. :p

Just remember it's 5 star "African standard", not British standard.;)

I haven't been to Egypt but whenever there's a chance of food poisoning shot or two of vodka with every meal will disinfect you nicely, and make you happier all day long. :D

Sounds like a great holiday.

Fly to a hot place to basically live in a hotel for 2 weeks and get the runs.

lol No thanks.

I never got the runs when I was there, I had ice in my drinks as well which apparently is not too clever.

From what I heard, the main reasons people get the runs is:

a) The money (it's filthy)
b) The water, while perfectly safe, is not what our bodies are used to bacteria wise and will give us the runs because it's all new and it just makes you body poop.

I had no problem at all, ate in quite a few different places, had ice in my drinks (don't know what most places tend to make the ice with, tap water or bottled), had salad (also a no-no according to some people, it's washed in tap water), but I did only drink bottled water, and brush my teeth with bottled water too.

Personally I'm in no hurry to go back to Sharm. Probably nice if you're into diving, but I'm not. We just went because we wanted to go somewhere warm and cheap and that time of year it was one of very few places guaranteed to be hot. It's a dump tbh. People are pleasant enough for the most part, although they hassle you a fair bit, but really, it's just unfinished, hot, cheap.

A couple of girls I know went this year and they were too scared to leave the hotel, they only went out once :D

I stayed here this year with my girlfriend.

5* hotel, she got the squirts and I got them when I landed in the UK. Definitely one of those things you should be prepared for no matter where you stay.

Reefs are great, such ashame people were hurt although our guide told us no one gets bitten by sharks.

And for the record, egyptian vodka would certainly do that. Most awful of spirits. Nice if you like to drink paint thinner.

Personally I hate the "lie in the sun" holidays anyway. When we went we did "the grand tour", with some days in Cairo, then a week in Hurghada, including trips to Luxor and other things. I'd go back again definately, but for either a week or two of diving of for some western desert exploring.
