Who Are Your Favourite Stand-Ups?

Bill Hicks
George Carlin
Stewart Lee
Dylan Moran
Bill Bailey
Eddie Izard
Russell Howard
Ross Noble
Paul Merton

* Would also like to add Rhod Gilbert but I've not seen much of his stuff, the story about buying a duvet amused me greatly. "DUCK"

bill bailey
eddie izzard
al murray
Dara Ó Briain
lee evans
Jason Manford

really cant stand:

any woman comedian, they just arnt funny.
Russell brand - hes just a ****
rhod gilbert - why must he shout every single thing he says.
that guy who hosts nevermind the buzzcocks, hes ok on that show but have you see the advert for his standup, if thats one of his best jokes....

A lot of the people on here need to make an effort to see more live stand up rather than just what makes it to tv or dvd. It's getting better with live at the apollo, mm comedy roadshow and dave's one night stand and coming in the new year jason manfords comedy rocks. But still, you're limiting yourself if you don't go and see some, whether it's at one of the comedy stores, jongleurs, highlights or just a local pub, give it a go.

My tops at the moment:
Gary Delaney
Bill Bailey
Rich Hall
Tim Minchin
Jason Cook
Alun Cochrane
Craig Campbell
Emo Philips
Chris Ramsay
Jason John Whitehead
Jim Jefferies
Steve Hughes
Lee Fenwick (in his many guises)
Paul Sinha
Robin Ince
Sam Wills/The Boy With Tape on his Face
Seymour Mace
Tiernan Douieb
Eddie Izzard

At the moment for me it would be:-

Jimmy Carr - Offensive but done in way it's actually clever.
Michael McIntyre - Light hearted, cheery.

I like several others such as Sean Lock but find his pure stand-up stuff not all that great, he suits panel shows better where he can react to others.

And lastly actually going off Frankie Boyle as he has moved from being clever/dark to all out offensive/crude for the sake of it.

I think my favourite is Dara O'Brien - He's so funny and every show of his is different because he interacts with the audience :)

I also think Sean Lock is hilarious :D

Yeah I thought Simon Amstall was so funny in Never Mind The Buzzcocks - So I watched the DVD he is advertising on the TV at the moment, and it just wasn't funny at all :(

Richard Herring.
Doesn't get enough credit IMO. Good to see some Stewart Lee appreciation as well.

Recent stand ups I have enjoyed on TV or live

Kevin Bridges
Frankie Boyle
Michael McIntyre
Stewart Lee
Richard Herring
Rhod Gilbert
Simon Evans
John Bishop

Jimmy Jones
Billy Connolly
Ben Elton (When he was at his best was fabulous)
Barry Cryer

Oh and if I was giving away places for a All Star Comedy Gig I think I'd give Josie Lawrence one too..........:D

Reginald D Hunter
Tim Minchin
Dara O'Brien
Ricky Gervais
Ross Noble
Bill Bailey
Jimmy Carr
Rhod Gilbert
Billy Connolly
Eddie Izzard
Dylan Moran

Cant stand pretty much any female comedian. Even the so called better ones are just tripe - Jo Brand is the worst of the bunch.

Russell brand needs to go away, he has the arrogance of Gervais without the intellect and just inserts random posh sounding words that he doesnt know the meaning of in the middle of sentences.

Peter Kay used to be fine in the begining until he just kept repeating the same joke over and over then recharging people for it. 3 stand up DVDs based on 1 routine.

Possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen. :D

Yes Brilliant!! Absolutely.:D

Really bored of usual lot. I'm just watching Dylan Moran, excellent.

But I need more cool suggestions.

My taste is:-
Billy Connolly
Bill Hicks
Steve Hughes

others are few and far between,

and guess what:- I don't want to watch Bill Bailey!! Truth. I'd rather watch Izzard, and that's saying something.
Recommend to me something, anything!
