As title. I flogged me HD6870 to a mate's son and I'm back in the market for a mid/ high vid card so I'm looking at the latest ATI and invidia offerings. I'm not buying owt 'till I see some reviews so does anyone have any ideas as to when the the reviews will/ might surface for any of these cards? I'd have thought really soon as both are out next week as far as I can gather.

I'm hoping the gtx 570 reviews would be out by monday or even possibly sunday, people want to see what they're like before shelving out the thick end of 300 notes. I quite fancy one of these as I reckon the 6870 was bit of a damp squib meself, not really any better than me old 5850 as far as I could tell.

The 6870 is a fantastic card and I'll buy another in Xfire and destroy a 580GTX

Its not all about the Raw GFX power the scaling and the noise and power are really staggering with the performance you get with a 6870

Best £179 I have spent on GFX to date.Running 975/1150 is getting me nice performance. I have been wanting to try Xfire for some time and popping another 6870 will finally see the gains with the new 6xxx cards.

NV need to get the audio sorted on their cards and the power. They lack certain features I just need.

It's ok easyrider, there's no need to continually justify your purchase :p, yes the 6870 is a good card but in the case of the OP it was a strange move as it was more of a side step as oppose to an upgrade.

OP surely you're not set on getting the gtx570 before even seeing amd's offerings?

I'm not its just that I upgraded from a 5650 lol and the OP should have read the reviews before coming from a 5850...What a noob :p He then dares to call the card a damp squib:eek::D

I actually agree with "easy" here, the 6870 was/ is a very good card, new technology, audio performance, low power, less heat and quieter and while I had one it played all son's games, and mine, extremely well, but if I'm spending more dosh on a new generation/ revision card, I want a perceptible performance increases, being able to crank up the detail levels, etc and the 6870 games at roughly the same level as me old 5850 (I'm not interested at all in benchmarks and the only time I might use one is to check if the card is running at optimum performance). Neither am I likely to use any of the audio features available, I haven't in the past so far. So if this means going nvidia rather than ATI this time round, then so be it, I hold no allegiance to any manufacturer, I want the best performance for me dosh.
So I want reviews, reviews and more reviews BEFORE the cards are released for sale:D:p

"Easy", perhaps damp squib was a bit strong, I suppose "a tad disappointing" would be more accurate wrt performance, and I deffo should have read reviews more closely before purchasing one and I aint gonna make the same mistake twice. Besides, me mate's son is well happy with the card, I lost a minimal amount of money, so everyones happy.

and "noob", pfft never been called one of those before:D

6870 is a great card.
But it was let down by poor UK pricing of £200 upon release and poor availabilty.
Only now, 2 months later are we seeing card in good numbers at the EXPECTED price of £170.
Great cards for Xfire that trounce the 580 for £60 less.

Newsflash for the OP!
if you didnt notice any changes from 5850 to 6870 you wont either to 570gtx or 6950.
