Not sure what that has to do with the point being made, that point being that 99% of appliance problems are very easy to resolve yourself, as appliances are generally very very simple devices.

I have repaired all manner of faults over every single one of my household appliances now, each fault just takes time on google and a parts supplier :) The problem people have (and the reason that appliance "engineers" are able to conduct business) is lack of confidence in opening things up, and laziness on the end user side.

Write to the manufacturer. I done this with a microwave I brought from comet and it turned out to be made by them a rebadged. They eventually agreed to offer a replacement.

99% - We could got rid of all our experts and hired you.

Within a domestic environment, while accepting that some issues may be terminal and will not be worth looking at, you know full well that I am correct. We are talking about devices with very simple modular (ie, replaceable) design with a very limited number of problems.

The experts at your old place is nothing to do with simply repairing an item, their tasks no doubt boiled down inherent design flaws, resulting re-design of parts, quality control of parts, improvements to design etc. Totally different kettle of fish to the domestic repair solution where you simply swap parts out of a simple modular chassis! :)

currys was where i bought it, phoned them this morning regarding this "issue" and got nothing but abuse and stupid comments about it only having a 12 month guarantee as its only a tumble dryer.

I was going to comment on how bad Currys customer service is but it seems you have already experienced it first hand. My friend had an issue, and over the phone they told him he was a liar, they wouldn't help him, wouldn't let him speak to a manager and basically screwed him over.

Then its march down to the store time, preferably with a woman because they seem so much better at making a scene.
