Because it doesn't benefit the farmers or everyone up here. If everyone wants to change down south let them. Just remember change your time when you get up here.

Scotland would benefit from the secret of fire. Let's not learn to run before we crawl.

We've got street lighting already.

What rock do you live under?

:D

I'm rather unfussed about whether we stick to GMT or go over to CET, as long as we get rid of the clocks going forward & backward every year.

you still get a time ofset with CET.

reason our clocks go back and forth is the difference between the north and south of our islands.

GMT GMT GMT GMT GMT! Our great minds and thinkers stole the longitudal origin that world longitude/time is calculated from, from the bloody French and I'll be damned if we are giving that up for namby pamby snivellers who are a bit scared of the dark!!!! Sod economic sense this is about the sovreignty of OUR Greenwich Meridian

Really? Damnit. I'll freely admit that I have no idea what you mean by BST being based on the difference between North & South. What's up with that? You haggis-herders dragging us down again? :p

They should have double summertime as well. It would be ace to still be able to do things at midnight in the summer, and not have to have thick curtains to prevent being woken up by the sun at 4am.

Yet again the English government show they don't care for the rest of the UK. Darker mornings means children going to school in the pitch black and will cause further accidents involving kids. Time to break up the UK.

Oooooh, the drama... For the love of god won't somebody think of the children!!!!

Also means its brighter in the early evening when they go home.

Whilst I disagree with breaking of the union, I agree with you that this is southern mob rule democracy in action. The north of Scotland especially where i am from originally will be dangerously affected by this. Sill dark at half 9? no thanks.

Scotland would benefit from CET, I know that much.

It's always a tossup over economy/child saftey though.

No it isn't, the child safety data is now defunct. Demonstrating more are kileld on way home in the dark, than going to school in the dark.
I believe its to do with kids dandering home slowly, whereas they go straight to school in the mornings.

Scottish farmers unable to find livestock was the last major complaint, but even that is partially defunct with several types of animals now kept in sheds for the duration of the winter.

This is another cave in to those foreigners in Europe who call them self's Feds. We had a new court calling it's self, the Supreme Court, and now we have to change our clocks for them. Oliver Cromwell had the right idea, it's about time we had a say in Europe, and to keep the British name in this country.:D
