***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Finally knuckled like the wind :).

Can anyone recommend a car to finish 'Historic Racing Car Cup' Expert event?

countach fully upgraded plus an added rear wing, i managed it with soft racing tyres but it's a tough race. if you're not in 1st place within the first few corners restart.

Which Countach?

The one I have currently only gets to about 400hp fully tuned which is useless against 900hp, 900kg cars.

Is it the LP400 or whatever it is?

Secondly the Advanced TG one was easy as, did it within 3 attemps.

Also for Ashes to Ashes fans I've bought a Red Audi Quattro. Quality car. Only Standard tho :(

uhh the 70's one that you win early on, LP400 '74 tuned up to 525hp at 905kg. also gear it to only 170-180 so you have good accel out the corners but you will be blocking at the end of the straights if the AI are in a winning mood heh, which they usually are.

I found that pretty easy. Instead of bouncing off the limiter, ease right off the gas and try to hold it at max speed, you can gain a fair bit on the others.

Thanks for the tip, that was my first run through so I'll give it another bash.

I dont think I won that one.

Where is the list of what cars you win for what!? *Googles*

Ok, maybe I did win it.

Hmmm....

I use Auto and noticed that it bounces off the limiter at 50mph and bounces between that and 45ish. Are you saying try to hold the throttle so it is steady at say 48-49mph? (Gonna be tricky on the pad but I am sure it is doable).

Yeah, you can actually hold 50, and see 51 before the limiter kicks in, but when I did it I aimed for 49 which with a wheel is fairly easy to maintain and when the AI hits the limiter you gain a car length or two with ease...

Just done the first Grand Tour event with gold, 1:16.995 so only just but hey :p Silly thing is the second event is incredibly easy...

Hi guys, I'm considering having a nostalgia filled christmas by asking for this and a wheel. Amazingly GT5 is what I bought my PS3 for (nearly 3 years ago now!) but now its out I can't build up the enthusiasm to actually buy it!

Anyway, I'll be at my parents this christmas and I think a dollop of gran turismo nostalgia could be just what the doctor ordered.

So, wheels? Driving Force GT has caught my eye, I want something with good force feedback, pedals and preferably gear control be it flappy paddle or otherwise. I don't think I can really ask for anything more expensive than £100 or so, especially considering I'll probably be bored of it again within 2 months and be back on Halo!
What do you guys place the wheel on? I'll be playing on my 106" projector setup so I won't be sat at a desk or anything to secure it on :/.

Are there any good game+wheel combos to be had in any stores?

hi

Can someone explain to me what gift car level tickets are?

ive read you get them after getting gold in the beginner,amature...series and so on but is it a specific car ?

thanks

Hmmm not sure I can justify that much more $$$ on something I may not use in 2 months time, has no one found a conveniently sized argos/ikea thing that works?

I think people use some sort of laptop holder from ikea just can't remember where I've seen it.

I dunno what the wheelstand pro is like but I have a GamePOD GT2 because GT5 isn't the only racing game I play. So if you know that you'll be playing more racing games n getting more use out of it maybe you should take the plunge n get the wheelstand pro instead of something that does half the job.

People on AVForums are using a laptop stand from Tesco which apparently works really well.
