Hi, im getting a laptop for x-mas didn't get much of a budget and im mainly going to use it for internet anyway but was wondering what games it could handle even at low detail.

Important stuff(i think) tell me if i missed something.

CPU and Memory:

* AMD Athlon 2 dual core.
* 2.1GHz processor speed.
* 512KB cache.
* 2GB DDR2 RAM memory.
* 250GB hard drive.

Display features:

* 15.6in widescreen display.
* High definition display.
* Resolution 1366 x 768 pixels.

Graphics:

* ATI Radeon HD with 4200 graphics card.

Forgot to say i probably won't be playing games like the new cods and stuff more like some fun old games such as some GTAs etc.

my laptops got worse specs and yeah the old gta's should run fine, i also can run old rts games like red alert 2, plus morrowind which is an awesome RPG :)

Obviously depends what sort of games you like, but I'd recommend turn-based strategy games as a mainstay.

My lappy is similar spec to that, and Civ4 and Football Manager games run nicely enough. Framerates are not really an issue with these sort of games, and of course they are very playable with trackpad and small keyboard, less so with FPS games.

You should be able to play games like Decon, Multiwinia on that kind of game. Defcon especially is a really good game regardless of the spec of machine you have. Still has a pretty good multiplayer community as well

Football manager definitely, a SNES emulator with Super Mario World, and I think Defcon would run.

Should be able to run WoW aswell right?

ill mainly be looking for some cheap old games any way as steam do some great deals.

aslong as you turn shadows off they are a real killer in wow for onboard gpus.

you should be more than fine with any of the source engine game (hl2 , tf2 , l4d etc)

most games even a lot of modern ones arent as demanding as you would think aslong as your prepared to turn the res down and the graphics and laptops arent high res anyway

Sounds good then wouldn't bother me putting the shadows off.

I played used to play a lot of Company Of Heroes with pretty much that exact spec. Granted, resolution was one down form the max, but framerate was perfect after tweaking the settings....you'll be surprised at what that GPU can do.

Id Google the Lenovo Z560 laptop though. Much better GPU (if you go with the model that has the Nvidia 310m) and probably less expensive than that model (HP by any chance?) your gonna get. Its outrageously cheap for what it has.

Ive got one and love it, plays Fallout 3, all source games very nicely

Lenovo Z560 = £579

Lenovo G555 = £319

So yeah lol already ordered it anyway not aloud it till Xmas though :mad:

Sounds like it is gonna be pretty decent for some casual gaming though.
