Yes i know its the console section.
This is aimed at people who switched to console gaming full time when the Xbox360 and PS3 came out.
although i am still quite happy using the xbox360 for now i cant see me feeling this way for another 2, 3 or possibly 5 years.
its very unclear if new consoles will release in 1-5 years so is it time to consider a gaming PC what with sony and microsoft copying Nintendo and going the wii route.
i know its not all about graphics but i think the consoles are just starting to show their age.

thoughts ?
 
Did think about it but instead i've decided to get a Xbox 360 Slim 250gb and a Lenovo G555 Laptop which looks like it can handle some games on pc that are old which im happy with.

yes i've considered this route also.
there are lots of PC only games i've missed over the years due to console gaming.
although when it comes to the crunch i think i need a decent PC gaming machine. i just cant help myself :D
 
Not enough PC exclusives that interest me any more, I still have one for the likes of Football Manager, Diablo 3 and Blood Bowl but I find gaming on PC so much more frustrating than consoles.
 
Well I've bought a new gaming pc to replace my 06 machine so now I can go through some pc exclusives I may have missed that were too intensive for my Core 2 duo rig. Steam sales also help big time, left 4 dead 2 for less then £4 ?? ACES

But at the same time I've also bought kinect...

I'm very much the multi format whore
 
With the Christmas holidays and steam sales that will ensue, I couldn't wait till the new year lol. So built mine a month ago. I have ps3 for my console gaming needs. :)
 
My personal opinion is that to restrict yourself to one gaming 'format' is close to being the highest level of ignorance you could possibly attain. The highest would be arguing as to why the choice you made was the right one and everyone else are morons for not agreeing.

Game on what you enjoy. If you can only have one format, chose the one you like most, just accept that others will prefer another choice.
 
Not at all, Just nothing coming to it that interests me. Consoles have my bases covered. I'm not that bothered about playing games in massive resolutions with 800x aa and af.

My PC is literally a media hub, I run it for nothing other than HD videos in all their prettyfulness.

Dont get me wrong, there are games on PC that i'd like to play. But I just dont want to part with the cash to play them.

Witcher 2 for example

I was a hardcore pc gamer, bought myself an xbox earlier this year for a challenge mainly. I was terrible with a controller but was tired of just pointing and clicking heads and coming top of the scoreboard all the time. Being great is tiresome after a while :D
I haven't touched my pc since :eek: My 300 quid of 5870 is gathering dust as we speak :D So I'd say no.
I WAS planning on playing on the pc and the xbox but that hasn't worked out. Maybe it's just a novelty at the minute and I'm playing with my new toy, we'll see.
 
My Q6700 and 8800gt can still run pretty much anything i throw at it so i see no need.

With that said i haven't actually gamed on my PC since Mass Effect 2, titles that interest me for it are few and far between.
 
Yeah but only as sandy bridge excites me and my mac is starting to struggle with some games.... (plus im going to get round to my pppppower mac project in the new year after exams)
 
gaming for me is a chance to have a little social with some friends. I dont know anyone with a gaming PC anymore so for that reason I wouldnt.

Same. I built a decent mid range PC a few months ago and haven't really used it for games at all.

Diablo 3 is the only one I'm looking forward too atm.

People often say things like that when it comes to pc gaming but the truth is one mans "runs great" is another mans "doesn't run well enough". With the mouse being such a precise input device, you need almost instant and consistent feedback. I couldn't bear to play a game with vsync turned on on my 60hz monitor as it felt like I was playing underwater. They locked MW2 to 85fps and it lost all it's fluidity. cod 4 at 120fps was heaven and then they had to change it for the next one because people on faster machines were sending more packets and mucking up their backwards local hosting system.

This is where people start trotting out the common misconception that "the human eye can only see x frames a second" and pluck some random number from the ether :D

Yeah, I had no friends playing on pc either, made lots of friends on steam though, just playing with randoms.

I'm not going to trot out the 'x frames a second argument' as i know it's testicles. I'm just going to state that i couldn't give a toss if the game runs at 40fps instead of 60, i still enjoy it just as much. There's a reason why one mans 'runs great' is another mans 'doesn't run well enough' exists and that's because the former really doesn't need a rock solid 60fps for enjoyment, i'm him.

Moving to an iMac in 2011, from this oc'd 3.7ghz E6600 with a 4870 ATI. For gaming I'll just stick to my 360, and Bootcamp Win7 onto the iMac if I am that desperate to return to pc gaming. Only Dragon Age 2 and The Witcher 2 hold interest to me for the PC side. So far my latest pc purchases have all lead me to nothing but timewasting in order to get them running - one of the very reasons why I moved to the 360 in 2005.

As for my fears that the 360 has reached the end of it's tether, assassins creed: brotherhood pretty much proved me wrong. A good week or two's worth of gaming there without any fps issues at all.
 
I have a pc and a ps3. There's not much point in a gaming pc now really. You just end up playing the same games with usually not much graphics improvement. People always exaggerate about the difference. If my pc was worth any more I'd probably sell it. I'd need a pc for the internet so if I sold mine and bought a less powerful one, I wouldn't be left with much over so there's no point. The ps3 has loads of exclusives (including console only games such as red dead) that I wonder why I have the pc sometimes
