Hi all,

My mums TV has gone bust so we're in need of a new one.

It has to be 32", and silver coloured preferably.

That's her criteria! Obviously I wan't to make sure she buys a decent bit of kit as well and doesn't get talked in to buying something she doesn't need.

However, it doesn't seem there are many silver sets out there so would appreciate it if anyone knows of any.

Currently I've found two choices:

Philips 32PFL7605H/05

Panasonic Viera TX-L32D28BS

Both look pretty good on paper, and I saw the panasonic today. One possible problem is the stand which angles back, the tv will sit on a cabinet probably about 70cm back. Do you think it will lean back too far?

We're going to have a look at the philips tomorrow in JL. I've found it on special offer for £500 if bought before the 8th so that's quite tempting at the mo.

Are there any other models we should be looking at? You guys have to understand my mums not looking for the cinema experience! She just wants one that will fit in an alcove in the room, not be black and ugly, and be easy to use. Features are lost on her tbh!

Thanks for any help

mods: I'm not sure on the rules on posting up links to stuff like this in here, if what I've posted is classed as a competitor then please edit.

What's your budget? Personally I'd go with the Panny every time.

They're both really expensive for 32 inch sets though. Does it absolutely have to be silver?

EDIT: Have had a quick look, take a look at the Samsung UE32C5800. It's not all silver (although part of it is), but looks quite pretty and is a much better price.

Thanks manic. Yep I know they're the most expensive! Her budget was £600, but we'd be interested to see all the options before limiting it down tbh.

It kinda does have to be silver really. TV's are just an ugle box in the corner to my mum so if she can reduce that then that would be good!

If it's any consolation this is replacing a panasonic 28" CRT that we've had for over 10 years. It's unlikely she will be changing it in the next 10 years, so whilst they're both expensive sets, hopefully they're built to last a while!

That samsung looks alright but I know she won't like it!

We're going to JL tomorrow so will have a good look there...

I'm getting one of these for Christmas. £409 from JL with a 5 year guarantee. With the VAT back takes it down to £350. Seems like a lot of TV for the money.

Its a superb tv for the money, oh and make sure you get it before the offer ends on the 24th this month or you wont get the vat back.

Cheers guys, keep suggestions coming! Any older, good models that might still be found in clearance would be handy.
