is anybody considering a gaming pc in the new year ?

I'm not going to trot out the 'x frames a second argument' as i know it's testicles. I'm just going to state that i couldn't give a toss if the game runs at 40fps instead of 60, i still enjoy it just as much. There's a reason why one mans 'runs great' is another mans 'doesn't run well enough' exists and that's because the former really doesn't need a rock solid 60fps for enjoyment, i'm him.

Yeah, and it depends entirely on the game too. Crysis runs great at 30fps with it's blur techniques. Playing to win in multiplayer rather than for fun, low framerates can really hold you back. Any framerate will do in single player, makes no odds. You've plenty of time to shoot idiot AI :D

Ill be building a gaming pc soon into the new year, Forza3 and GT5 have made me want to get back into driving games, as much as i enjoy both GT5 and FM3, all the while i know how much more the PC has to offer.

I ditched Windows about 4 years ago, in favour of a OSX. I could simply install Windows under Bootcamp, but, my newest Macpro is already quite an old spec 8x2.8ghz, 10gb Ram and only Gt120 and 8800gt GFX cards, so as im sure it would run most sims quite well, its easier and more living room friendly building from scratch a dedicated PC.

my couch is far to comfy to consider moving back to the PC for gaming. Most games i'd play on the PC would be ports from the consoles anyway, so not really much point

Unless you are some kind of pauper then just get all 4, PC, WII, 360 and ps3.All have their strongpoints.Considering you can pick up a wii or 360 on ebay for £100 or less and a ps3 for £150, and the lifecycles of each is looking to be around 6-8 years then it only works out to like £50 a year for the hardware lol, just dont go to the pub 1 night once a year in those 8 years :D

Yup. I have all 4 and use them all. If you have the cash and like your gaming, owning all 4 platforms is the way to go.

Don't have a Wii but have the others. Will be looking at a new gfx card for the new Deus EX game, dont think my 5770 is going to cut the mustard when that hits the streets.

Exactly. I once calculated roughly how much it costs to own all the consoles - even if buying them new at launch it works out as about £2.50 a month for a Wii, 360 and PS3! Probably cheaper as this generation is seemingly endless. I'd say cheap as chips, but I spend considerably more money on chips ;)

My personal opinion is that to restrict yourself to one gaming 'format' is close to being the highest level of ignorance you could possibly attain. The highest would be arguing as to why the choice you made was the right one and everyone else are morons for not agreeing.

Game on what you enjoy. If you can only have one format, chose the one you like most, just accept that others will prefer another choice.

What? In your opinion the highest form of ignorance is just having one gaming platform? Your opinion I suppose, but really?

Yes i know its the console section.
This is aimed at people who switched to console gaming full time when the Xbox360 and PS3 came out.
although i am still quite happy using the xbox360 for now i cant see me feeling this way for another 2, 3 or possibly 5 years.
its very unclear if new consoles will release in 1-5 years so is it time to consider a gaming PC what with sony and microsoft copying Nintendo and going the wii route.
i know its not all about graphics but i think the consoles are just starting to show their age.

thoughts ?

ps3 + gaming pc (mainly for some rpgs and adventures)

prefer the ps3 exclusives over the 360 ones.. only one i miss is gears of war 2

I agree with him, though his wording could have been better I think. :)

The people that sit there claiming one console (or PC) to be superior to another just because that's all they own can be very ignorant. Not because they only have one console, but because of how they act because of it. It's by no means all of them, but a lot of people are.

I find it pretty shocking of PC gamers in particular, that shun console gaming as kiddy or inferior, but sit there blindingly missing out on great exclusive titles because of their stubbornness.

Pretty much how it'll be always. I know because I used to be one of them. Busy counting my FPS's and running my benchmarks to beat others. When I look back at that I facepalm myself.

This, the amount of it in the PC forum is sickening. It's far worse than any console fanboyism in here.

I'd love to get a PS3 to round off my gaming experience but the truth is I barely have time to play the games coming out on the platforms I have :(

I have enough money to buy all the consoles but I tend to get obsessed with one thing at a time so they'd just be gathering dust while I played on my xbox. I'm like that with bands too.

I am thinking of selling up and just having a laptop, Pc game releases look very very grim.

If you aren't in to starcraft or first person shooters seems no reason to even have a gaming rig these days.

I definitely think pc gaming wont pick up again any time soon or at least not until ps4 xbox 720 are out.

All the talent is and in the future will be concentrated in the console market.
