I'm bored of seeing thread titles such as "Lucky Escape" and thinking "Someone must have had something interesting happen to them and they wish to share their experience" only to find they've lazily copy pasted a BBC News link or a youtube video. While I understand it's good to share these sorts of things I like to think of GD as more than a mere RSS Feed.

Could there be a "Look what I've found" or some such subforum where people can post their regurgitated pap off of News websites/youtube/pearoasted internet archives, it clutters up GD and for the most part adds little to the forum (if you ask me).

Thoughts/comments/flaming/trolling appreciated.

Or just suspend/ban them for posting threads without any meaningful stuff in the op. As you would any spam type thread.

youtube links generally all go in 1 thread, "link and run" threads will often be deleted if not accompanied by some sort of discussion topic

It's these that bore me the most, I'm capable of navigating to the BBC News website yet judging by the way some people start topics in here you'd think it was some exclusive website most have never heard of.

Clutters? GD? That's what GD is for! :p

That's what i was thinking, If you don't like the junk don't enter GD or at least press the back button if you enter a crap thread rather than post in it keeping it on the Front page. (Which you have made me do here) + :p

Totally agree with this. If you just post text from a news site, the thread should be deleted. If you post text with PROPER accompanying opinion, it should stay.

This is why GD is good as it has a wide range of random silliness and occasionally something that sparks debate.

If you further subdivide forums there becomes a point where it is far too specialist and "boring" for anyone except those with the very specific interest.

For example id like to see a Moustache waxing sub forum but i fear it will never happen here.

This. GD is for general discussion as it states. Just posting a random link to a news story without giving an attendant opinion is not discussion, general or otherwise and should simply be deleted.

The Mods could consider bans for people who start threads that just criticise other people threads however....:p

We don't need a random newslink subforum.

If people don't like reading opinions on stuff then press the back button in your browser and let those that do alone.

There should be a cooking sub-forum. Won't ever happen though. :(

That's because most OCUKers will post 'Look what Ive cooked' threads, which will lead you to a picture of a microwave dinner, Chinese takeaway etc :p
