***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Ok...I've just done the Nascar event and won all of the races except the last, because someone spun me out. Anyway, I won the championship because I had enough points.

I've just tried to go back to that race to get all gold and my car isn't competative anymore.

I've done an oil change, which gave me about 20bhp more than the last one did:confused:, and the car is still crap. I can only put it down to a thing called "Restore Body Rigidity", but this is going to cost me 250,000 credits, probably about the same amount I won for doing the championship.

Is this game taking the ******* **** or what?

Cant imagine 1 championship doing enough damage to make the car a lot worse , the toyota race car i have would cost me 500,000 to restore but it seems to drive just as good so i have left it .

You did supercharge it yeah? :p Your gearig is correct, turn on the driven line and stick to it, you need to lift fractionally at the end of each straight, but not coming onto the straights. I'm getting 42.2s consistently and have had it lower :) The only driver aid I had on was ABS of 1, full downforce front and rear

Yeah, I've given up for now. That time is about what I'm getting on the 2-5 laps but the problem is more about getting knocked off the track than anything else.

It's Nascar though. Even a few mph lost on the corners makes it impossible to win.

Looks like damage to these cars has more effect then , when i did the nascar event i won the first 4 races and got taken out on daytona and ended up 12th lol but still won the championship .

What does body ridgity actually do, my buick special '62, needs about 400k worth to fix it, i use the car for all the high speed races, like the supercar festival in pro and muscle car races.

It wastes your credits that is what it does! lol

I'd imagine it just helps cornering but at 500k for most decent cars I'd never get it.

I can't that race without being bumped off the track either  I've decided the way forward is to run close to the back of the back until lap 8 or 9 then draft and overtake everyone. Not tried it, but its on the list :p

They are not better they cheat. They can corner faster and accelerate faster in the same car you are using.

Have to agree with this in some respect.

The Yaris Vitz race for example, to see the exact spec same car as you have faster acceleration and better top speed (using manual too) is taking the urine tbh. Cornering isnt better tho because i would never keep up in my factory spec Vitz otherwise.

Refused to waste any money on upgrades for a car that i would only use once.

Well i started again and have been enjoyind winning actual races instead of grinding :)

Managed to win the Supercar Challenge or whatever its called in a Honda Integra :D

Im finding im not having to upgrade cars much/at all as i seem to have improved greatly, so im saving some money which allows me to buy some sexy premium metal

You know... now that people mention it I HAVE noticed this too.

Especially when you make it past most cars into turn 1 and start to pull a considerable gap by mid-lap, but then for some odd reason, people behind you start to go at the same pace or faster than you but never actually catch up. Has anyone noticed this?

TBF the first grinding I did was at Level 23, and I haven't struggled for money, and only borrowed one car to do a race (Your TT-R iirc). Just levelled up to 24, haven't done the Dream Car yet, but that's next. Need to win the Expert Dirt Rally, and complete the 3 and 4th level AMG driving school challenges, hopefully that will put me up to 25 and open the endurances :)

Yeah the grinding started about there for me too, but i had to save money for the F1 car, and because i was a higher level than most i had to buy my own DTM car at £1million :p

The endurance races unlock at 25 and you can do one, then the next is at 26 which requires more grinding, then the next is 27 etc etc. Just got a bit boring.

Im hoping some DLC will add more races. Ill gladly payfor that.

The Vitz one is by far and away the worst example of the ai in the game, I swore and took second till I can be assed to put a 30 grand turbo in... (or borrow my flat mates)

got myself the ek civic last night and spent 100k on upgrades with a close ration 6 speed box

absolutely awesome fun and handles like a dream

does anyone know if the race upgrade is worth it on the premium cars as it's 115k
