I'm not sure about ABS, I tend to leave it on it's weakest setting as when it's off completely I tend to lock the wheels up due to braking to heavily, it might be a drawback of using a controller and it might be easier to drive with ABS off when you have a proper set of pedals, I'm not sure. As for TCS, I usually turn this off as it's quite constricting in this game, it quite often stops you from keeping the power on during cornering which is a huge disadvantage. The other assists are for beginners like the skid recovery system.

Aids will hold cars back... Make them slower.

Take traction control.... I drive with it fully off. Theres nothing more annoying that having it cut/reduce power to the wheels when exiting a corner.

Are you talking about the TG event? If so I've already expressed my frustration towards it within this thread. Heck.... I too had to switch on the TC...... only to get bronze!

You'd need to be a great driver to make it around that track (in that car) without any of the aids. It is possible.

But back to my point. Aids produce slow lap times!

No I am talking about the time trial thread on this forum for the top gear track, assists make it quicker

you can be competative (against the ai if thats what you mean) in that without any aids, it just takes time, im sure you could do it. i golded it with no aids zero abs(default brake bias) and with clutch and h-shifter. it took me about 8hours over three days to do it.

the hardest part for me was when downshifting because i had to let go of the wheel to change gear, trying to keep it steady with one hand while braking was tough, however i got sick of losing it so i used paddles for a while, then went again on it the next day and i could easily keep in under control with clutch and stick shift. i guess using two hands told me where exactly the wheel should be in certain braking sitches.


mind you i should try that challenge with some aids and see if i can beat my other time with ease

All this talk of aids made me think this was a thread discussing sexual problems in Africa :(

Also missed the spoon integra last night in used dealership. Went to get some funds to buy the beast and upon my return it was gone and I had a damn volvo 240 and some other crap!
 
God damn this snow came on again, thats no gran turismo thru my door again it's been over 2 weeks now since it was posted :(.
