Two part question: is my 520W power supply enough + spec replacement for Asus P5Q-E

I have some weird, unfathomable problem with the Asus P5QE and some of the USB ports (the ones on the port plate). Sometimes they work, sometimes not. Sometimes they corrupt, sometimes not. Sometimes they work but make Windows believe everything connected to it is a USB1 device.

I thought this might be a power supply issue. However, I have a 520W power supply, an Intel Q9550, two 7200rpm hard drives and one SSD. 4 sticks of RAM, a Creative Xfi sound card and some £50 nVidia graphics card. Motherboard reports power supply to the 12v, 3v (etc) rails are all fine.

Power supply shouldn't be a problem, right?

Assuming the answer is "power supply is fine", can you spec me a replacement for a SUPER reliable motherboard to replace my Asus P5QE?

Thanks!

USB uses 5V rail and ripple would be equally important. (also bad 5V standby can fry USBs)
Is that PSU Corsair HX520? It has good quality parts and should work for long time.

some of the USB ports (the ones on the port plate).
You mean those directly in motherboard and not case's front ports?

Depends on the make and age of the PSU. If its from a good make, and not more the 4-5 years old the power should be more then enough.

Yes to both questions. Front ports are fine, so are the PCI plate ports on the back.
