New Gaming headset recommendations?

My Roccat Kave's suffered a hardware failure and wwas still within the 2 year warranty but Roccat want nothing to do with it and OC insist I go to them because they can only deal with warranty replacements if the warranty is within the first year, after that all warranty claims have to be done with the manufacturer, which in this case Roccat say there is nothing they can do.
I will never buy a Roccat product again!

Anyway I am after a new headset and I would prefer one that goes into the back of my soundcard (Asus Xonar D2) but I would happily go for the USB option providing the sound is as good or better than my soundcard.

So if anyone can recommend a headset up to £100 I would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance.

Forget about USB headsets. They have their own sound processing, which will be nowhere near as good as what your Xonar is capable of.

+1 for Siberia v2

Most comfortable headset I've ever owned. by far.

Looks pretty awesome too.

Recently talked on Skype with it and everyone immediately noticed I was using a new headset because they found it much clearer than my old headset.

Hi the sibera v2 is a great headset at it's current price and is one of the best from my research I think you should be looking at the razor ( one after a shark which I can't spell) or SS 7h they are both on par with each other and more expensive headsets says hardware haven I should put that in bold really. If you got a sound card like a xonar DG or better don't mess around with USB but there is nothing wrong with them ethoir

Hmmm......... It looks like I am swinging towards the steel series 7H having read a few reviews and the fact it allows me to plug directly to the Xonar D2. The razor carcharcias are out of stock but how do they compare to the 7H's?

Sennheiser PC163D if you can find them anywhere still... very comfortable, great sound quality and the 7.1 DH unit if you choose to use it, uses the latest version of ProLogic IIx which is far superior to older dolby headphone type setups.

Why do people keep recommending USB headsets when he has a Xonar D2X?!

Carcharias are very good. No idea how they compare to the 7H, but the Carcharias' have had a lot of positive comments from people who have experience of decent headphones.

Right I narrowed it down to the Corsair HS1 or the Steel series 7H.

Do I sacrifice the Xonar D2 for the Corsair HS1 built in sound or do I go for the Steel series 7H???
From what I read both seem to perform well.
What I want to ask is will I get a better sound from my Xonar D2 or would the HS1 be just as good?

Ok so it's best to run a headset off the Xonar D2 soundcard.
In that case I should get the SS 7H because the Carcharias are out of stock :(

Not sure if that was directed at me but the 163Ds have normal stereo jacks the 7.1 DH unit is optional but for gaming I think it supports a newer version of DH/prologic than the Xonar and for the sound quality and comfort they are worth the money even if you don't use the USB device - which I find useful for other uses as its far superior quality wise to the realtek crud on my laptop.

If you have a xonar and are looking to spend upto £100 don't settle for the Corsair HS1 or the Steel series 7H... you can do far better sound quality wise at that price.
