Literally on the doorstep, dumbass fedex just left it with not even a card through the door.

Only just got in and taken a couple of snaps. Handheld of my mrs eye indoors from 5 feet at 70mm and 200mm, my god it's sharp. Even on the 100% zoom you can see in the individual specks of make up.

Will take lots of shots when I'm off work, but over the moon. Saved for quite a while and sold some stuff along with OT in a job I hate to pay for this. :)

Feels lovely on my 50D. Just need a deeper bag now.....

I used to own the Non IS version of this lens. It's unexplainable to anyone that has never used L glass of that quality. Just amazing. However, I had to sell up to fund something else many years ago. I used to own a 17-40L as well which I loved.

Thats the Mark II so it's going to be in the £1600ish region I think? :)

Congrats either way, I love the Mk I :)

just had a look,, 1649 is the cheapest i could see

might have to sell off some lenses in the new year to get this, its been on my wish list for a while

Where do you live? lol

Nice lens btw!

Haha, few people advised me to do a something dodgy but it didn't sit well with me that someone, albeit an idiot could lose their job.

what money are these going for now?

I paid £1499, the new price list in the box said £1649 but I'm not sure how up to date that was. I heard they were doing cashback on these in america hence the recent price drop. That may have ended?

The shaprness handheld at 200mm blew me away, so much so I think I need to get my 17-55 2.8 looked at for calibration ;)

I'd post the 100% crops but my mrs wouldn't appreciate her post shower ugly mug being posted on the net :D

Should get loads over the next week though and I'm planning a trip to the zoo.

The only reason I didn't go MK1 was because I will likely use a crop for the next 5 years. There are small issues with the Mk1 on crop that were resolved for the Mk2. Minor but as I will not be upgrading like yourself I just went this route instead.

I did notice that your %%% towards a 70 - 200 disappeared recently ;) nice one.

Yeah I got a xmas bonus coming which finished off the part I had left to save and this is the last lens I'm ever buying ;) as an amatuer with no aspirations on being anything further.

This with the 17-55 should see me right for a good few years now. The only other lens I've glanced at is the 85mm, I know people say the 50mm is the portrait lens on the crop but I much prefer the distance of 85mm. :)

Time to start saving for a second speedlite now :D

very nice. got a nice monopod or tripod to latch it on? Dont think its going to be a walk around lens :)

Yeah I have a 190proxb tripod and I'm looking for a nice bag to hold 3 lenses and this attached to the body. Have my eye on a Lowepro 160aw classified.

The 17-55 will be my walkaround unless I need the reach.

Cricky i was panicking for you, then realised it was just a canon lens, phew ;)

Seriously though, Nice lens ;)

Glad you resisted the temptation to say it had never turned up. Less honest people would have been tempted.

I've got the F4 70-200L IS and am sorely tempted by the 2.8 !

I haven't got my 70-200 yet...although I really want one lol. Although I've layed out about £2.5k this year on photography gear  - God and the list never seems to get smaller!!

Would love to see some shots mate, 200mm at 2.8 ofcourse :D

I'm done with spending for now, that's for sure. I will get some full range 2.8 shots this week as I'm off.

The day i own a lens like that the mrs will kill me :)

More than I ever thought I'd spend on this hobby when I started but I did extra at work and had a bonus from a performance review at work. I felt guilty spending that amount but my mrs kept saying I'd earnt it. I did save for a long time.

Until I took my first test shots with it I still felt guilty :D
