You need to send a set in so that you can buy a set for £90 each. You'll only ever end up with one set, so unless you're replacing your own, it's fairly pointless...

I've had 4 replaced, 3 were purchased by me and 1 by a garage that charged an extortionate fee (hence buying the other 3 myself for a lot cheaper).
I have the 3 old ones in my garage somewhere.

If he is happy to have an 85k car rather than a 75k car then there are quite a few titanium x models with the 2.0tdci engine for the same price. Either way, the Mk4 is where I'd put my money given the alternatives at that budget.
