Morning all,

I got a 2707 a few years ago, and it's been a great monitor, over time it's developed a few defective sub pixels, however it's now got an intermittent fault with a which square (with seemingly blurred edges) appearing on certain solid colours.

This square looks like several pixels (4 at least) and doesn't seem to appear straight away, the monitor has to warm up and it has to be displaying a solid colour across that area. The annoying thing is I have two at work and they have been perfect since I got them at roughly the same time.

Anyway my questions are as follows:

It came with a 3 yr warranty which should still be valid, however will they except this as a warrantable fault? My concern is that it could be "on it's way out" and knowing my luck it drops just as the warranty runs out.

What are Dell likely to replace it with? I saw a 2708 and the build quality was far less than the 2707.

I don't see why not - it was working properly, now it isn't, so you're entitled to take advantage of the warranty you paid for.

I'm not sure what they'd replace it with - probably a factory-refurbished 2707 or 2709 depending on availability (there's no such thing as a 2708 AFAIK), but you might get lucky and land yourself a U2711. :)

Maybe it was the 2709 I was thinking of, I just remember seeing one and thinking...ewww.

I know they require a set number of pixels to be faulty, so I am not sure what this would come under and if they would do it. But I would rather live with it until the only thing they had available was the 2711 :D

Really? Are you sure about that?

I read 10 sub pixels or 3 pixels with managers approval or 4+ for normal returns. That or 1 pixels within so many MMs of the centre of the screen. I just can't remember where I read that.

Errr..

2407, 2410, 3007, 3008, 3010....
Limited warranty - replacement - 3 years - shipment - response time: next business day

Yours has the same next day replacement warrenty.

What you need:
Service Tag (if not there you need: Serial Number and your original Order number)

Call them up

Quote the order number or Serial number

Tell them you have a cluster of dead pixies.

They will take ur details

And then you wait for your new one to come.

Oh and tehy will take your old one away

Thanks for the info chaps, yes it's the Ultrasharp 2707WFP.

Is this bright spot (on certain colours) a cluster of dead pixels then?

I definatly have 3 sub pixels gone across the screen but I am not sure what this fault is. I don't want to get it replaced and they turn round and say there is nothing wrong with it and then land me with a bill.
