Got my first day of my first IT Support role on Friday.. starting to get nervous... first days. Discuss.

Yurp. I hate first days of anything. Usually though I'm pretty good at throwing myself out there and getting the awkwardness out of the way.
The only problem is if you try to make conversation and the other person/s doesn't really respond the way you'd hope. Then you're stuck thinking, "do I really want to be here with this lot?"
Can't win sometimes even with the best intentions.

IT is always a great way to meet people as you're central to everyone's needs. I often find it quite amazing how people from one department never knew people from another department whereas I knew everyone in the building.

Oh yes, I left ten years ago. Would never work in IT again now.
Pro tip. Don't eat anything gassy, and make sure you've had a safety before you set foot in the office. I know because on meeting my new Ops director for the first time I had the overwhelming urge to let rip, most terrifying 20 minutes of my career. True story.
first days are great, just make sure everyone knows your the biggest baddest and you'll be fine
taking the prison approach - don't be nobody's biatch, wall up to the biggest guy and give him an IT upper cut

Just don't delete the SQL databases and you'll be fine...

All the first days I have ever had the hardest part was staying waking while you are having to do all the training and health safety stuff. If your lucky enough just to be shadowing someone on your first day just ask questions and stay interested dont switch off.
