Hey, Can you guys you could help me out with this. My friend went to America in August for 3 months with the visa waiver program. She is now planning on going again next week for another 3 months with the visa waiver. Can she do this? I'm sure their was a maximum amount of time you could spend in the USA per 6 months / 1 year. But i can't find any information. If their is a limit will she just get turned back at immigration?

Thanks in advance.

A 6 month holiday in the States? She might get questioned because thats pretty unusual - it would cost thousands for a start.

Her b/f lives in New York. She was with him from August to October and now she will be flying there again in 2 days time for another 3 months. I just thought their was a limit to the amount of times you can go in 6months or a 1 year period. As what is to stop people going for 3 months then flying home for a day and then going back for another 3 months, rinse and repeat.

Yup that will be fine but she can fully expect to get her passport put into a clear folder and be asked to follow the CBP officer's colleague to an office for questioning. If she'#s truthful though and she doesn't intend to overstay the 90 days then she should be fine.

As far as I'm aware, she wouldn't be able to do that as she would need to stay out of the country for at least 3 months after leaving before she could think of entering for another visa waiver.

I travel to the US at least once a month, every time under a visa waiver. I'm not aware of any limit other than the 90 days at a time.

Correct. As long as she has a genuine reason for being there again (her bf in this case) and it can be proved then she'll be fine. They take it much easier on females over there in immigration.

Are you there on business? It seems unusual to me that the rules would be more stringent for actual visas than visa waivers, as mentioned above it would easy to cross over into Canada and Mexico for a night and return on a 'fresh' visa waiver.

It's no holiday and I stay in the ghetto. I also drive a Ford Escape. Nothing to be jealous of :p

It is that easy! People do that quite often however those people are few and far between as if you are in the US under a visa waiver, you're not allowed to work. So, unless you are rich or have someone else supporting you it would be difficult to be in a situation where you could stay there for so long without working.

I had a Ford Escape last week when i was over there.

Without a doubt it wins the award for the smallest glovebox in relation to the size of the car. It literally is big enough for a pair of gloves.
