Tidbits of news related to the 6970 & 6990

OMG, it all links back to FUD and their article on the 6970 performance based on a fake performance chart.lol

So softpedia are quoting Fudzilla for a "10-20% faster than GTX480" claim, and Fudzilla based this on a single slide (from an unattributed source), which has clearly been edited in photoshop, and has a number of results that are precisely the same as those on a two-month old GTX460 vs 6870 slide...

Amazing how rumours can be spread so quickly from such utter tripe! :p

FUD is the IT equivalent of the 'The Sun', no real news of any description but worth a read for a laugh/ entertainment!

A very good friend of mine who works in the graphics card industry (he sweeps the floors after everyone else has gone home), says that the 6970 will be approximately 80% slower than a GTX 430. Apparently the 6990 will be able to play original Doom @ 800x600 with avaerage settings at above 30fps as well.

You heard it here first guys:).

edit: Unfortunatley 6950 has been limited to monocolour only.

Can he sends us a slide? :D

This is exactly the same problem you get with word of mouth, the benefit of the internet is you can work out if it is a Chinese whisper ;)

Almost every rumour Fud gets comes from rumours on forums, and mostly Semi-accurate, he reads the threads and almost every news story or forum speculation turns into a Fud article a day or two later, they are the single most useless site around.

Thats the problem I've always had, Charlie is a journalist, he investigates and posts real information or UNHEARD of rumours from sources. Fud's sources(and most other "news sites") simply repost press releases sent out, or release very well known rumours all over forums as news from "his sources".

I've literally never seen Fud post something that doesn't turn out to be completely wrong, or go back to a source thats a complete joke, or get something right, several days after Charlie has posted it.

Charlie's manic, and has as many problems with Windows/MS as Nvidia, its not irrational hatred, he doesn't like the way they do business, he also doesn't lie about either of them, but due to his distaste for companies revels in finding bad news about them, particularly Nvidia.

People mistake his detailed posts, techincal details, and discusions of costs and things, as being a rabid maniac(which maybe he is aswell), yet he's very very rarely wrong. Unfortunately, he's also been a bit too quiet recently :(

He also suggests that quite a lot of people know the real specs, but that AMD are liked by the press(read that as not constantly lied too) so people aren't willing to leak as much info as with Nvidia.

I think The Inquirer was more like The Sun of the IT world. Fudzilla is more like The Daily Star or something. Semiaccurate is probably the Daily Mail, except instead of cancer and immigrants there's Nvidia.
