Anyone interested in joining me for a trackday at Bedford Autodrome this coming Saturday?

Cost is £139 and can be booked at http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackday/index.php (only 4 spaces left at time of writing this)

It's a great track for novices and good fun for seasoned track dayers too!

Weather is looking good so far, should be a cool but sunny day.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm why did I have to open this thread, and the track is soo close, plus I could break my cherry!

Only problem is xmas party on the Friday night!

Have you used this company before spaz?

Not going to Bedford, but looking for my first track day next year and they look cheaper for Castle Combe than most other places. Are they any good?

Question spaz.

Honestly what would require replacing after the trackday in terms of consumables on the car, and what additional maintenance will be required? Never done a trackday before in my own car.

Would love to see what the new carbone lorraine pads could do out there :D

Yeah I have and they're alright tbh, website isn't super slick and everything seems to be done manually, but other than that they're as good as any other track day organiser.

As you've probably found out they do quite good early bird offers, of course there's the weather risk booking it so far in advance but at the same time not losing out so much if you decide not to go/the day is cut short by torrential rain or whatever.

Presuming everything you've got already is in good order and not really worn/well used you shouldn't really need to replace anything. Despite being a full day you're only really out there for about 20mins at a time to ensure nothing overheats (brakes especially!).

As you probably know even just normal/spirited driving with a vtec motor, you need to keep a good eye on oil levels throughout the day and drop oil in as and when you need to. I'm still on the same set of tyres after 2x trackdays and approx 5000 miles of driving, and the same set of pads after even more miles and a trip to the nurburgring too. Only thing I replaced is a set of front brake discs because of excess pad deposits...might need to do the same after Saturday but I'm hoping they'll survive!

Now now, don't all shout at once, the forum must be buckling under the strain!...

Went along today, great great fun, bit greasy early doors but quickly dried out and was able to match and sometimes exceed cornering speeds from earlier in the year when it was warmer.

Pretty much ruined my brake discs (again!), they stop alrightish but sound horrible.

Costs for the day?
£139 for the event
About £78 fuel (140 miles covered, 13.5 gallons of fuel used, 10.4mpg average)

Subtotal - £217

Potentially need another set of discs (although have a pair I might try and get skimmed) - £71

Total - £288 for the day

A lot of money for just a day but also well worth it, super fun!

Got 4 of my 5 sessions recorded before the battery ran out, here's one of them:

Didn't take many pictures so here's a selection of what I got:

Thanks for looking etc

Looks like a great day Spaz, brings back awesome memories of the S2000 round there.

Bedford is a killer for brakes, I remember destroying mine chasing a 996 C2 on KWv3 coilovers, much to the amusement of the 996 driver who couldn't believe I was running a stock engine.

Goes a long way to show how much difference handling improvements make.... and how much brake upgrades are needed !
