Don't drive so close to the cars in front then.
I wouldn't if they would just get over into the empty lane next to them

I always thought that putting warm/hot water on a freezing windscreen not only had a chance of cracking the glass but it also hardens up the windscreen rubber seal (over time), i.e. rapid heat change, which weakens it.
Dunno how true that is, never done it myself, always just used the heaters and de-icer.
Rubber seals concerns and you use de-icer?

Car air con doesn't heat, simple. No questions.
I think your coat is still inside this thread as you left in such a hurry. I guess you were okay as you jumped straight into your instantly warm cabin of your heat pump equipped car?![]()
Im not sure why commerical building HVAC systems are relevant to a winter car discussion either!
You need to look under a bonnet, see the one compressor and two pipes, if you know AC you will know there is no way that alone can offer cabin heat.
Well its the same base technology and the building ones work at like -14 degrees I was simply interested to find out why car ones are so crap by comparison.

The time it takes is coincidence. The ac is off even though the light is on as it doesn't function at -4 ambient!
Well one compressor and two pipes are enough to heat a room >.>
And concequently in such an arrangement they will not cool the roomIt can only send heat one way.
But why would you want to heat it and cool it at the same time, you either want the A/C heating or cooling not both simultaneously :S

So, anyone care to tell me what damage de-icer is doing to my car?
Which is worse, hot water or de-icer?
