I've just updated and it either crashes out or hangs on "downloading latest edition".

Removed and re-added with no joy.
Rebooted the iPad. No joy.

And now I'm stuck.... :(

I've "Reported a problem" in the AppStore - but have a non-functioning app now.

This is a new position for me - what do you do from here?

The old version worked fine.

I'm not sure if this is unique to me or a general issue.

Thoughts?

Strange, I had this exact issue with the LIFE magazine last night. I just couldn't get the sod to download onto the iPad via Wifi. About 10% would get done and then the little blue progress bar would sit there for hours. I switched to 3G and it still wouldn't budge, so I deleted it...

What you could try is to download the app via iTunes on your Mac or PC to your iPad library, and then sync the app to your iPad. That should work.

To make matters worse, I was having colossal slowness renting out Inception last night on my AppleTV v1. After 5hrs it was at 22%. I wonder if Apple were having server issues yesterday?

Well as it so happens I tried the App just there and it has started working fine. Must have been a server load issue... it wasn't working on 3G or WiFi and both were working flawlessly for other apps at the time.

Interesting that you say about the AppleTV.

I also have the v1 and on saturday night I was renting "Who am I?" in HD... and normally I can get a movie fully downloaded in say 20-30 minutes, and I have gotten used to this. But it was so slow downloading... yet my connection was otherwise quick. No issue on speedtest etc. I didn't get to watch it until Sunday.

Weird.

Thanks for that. Because all this time I thought it was my new Draytek router causing this slowdown of downloading with AppleTV. I just replaced my old Netgear DG834N as it was having wireless issues. However movie downloading would also take 20-30mins. I rented out another film last night and that took many hours so I left it overnight. I've gone over my draytek settings many times, can't see a thing wrong as its hooked up via ethernet :/
